Question: Should PSA Registry Sets Be Exempted From The Half-Point Scale

In order to help preserve the competitive and financial integrity of the PSA Registry Sets,
should all cards in the PSA Registry be forever exempted from the Half-Point Grading Scale?

No, PSA did it to make the registries resubmit, why would the exempt them?

It wont hurt the 1968 to present sets since the top ones are all above 9.00 anyways.

Looks like this move was being made to go after SGC and Beckett customers alone, and will only leave them pedaling backwards.
They should have stayed happy with the market share they had.

It will definately leave them looking like money grubbers.

If I want to get screwed, SGC and Beckett dont charge me a membership fee.

This is a such a can of worms opened. I can not see anything but some more changes to be made. I know its about the money . I will let the dust settle.

Isn't the whole point of this to try and get many of the registry cards resubmitted?

what they could easily do is have the grade factor of a card with a half point grade rounded down to the nearest whole number so that the weighted averages of all the sets remain the same.

so, "card weight" X "grade" would be the same for an 8.5 versus and a straight 8. This would eliminate the potential for someone creeping up in the set rankings with lots of +.5 cards.

That would eliminate the incentive for registry folks to resubmit.

Not a bad thing; except for PSA.

Well, according to the message they sent out, 7 and 7.5s are the same grade, the 7.5 is just a higher example of a 7. So, if that is indeed true, there should be no difference between 7 and a 7.5 on the registry. They should both be weighted the same, because they are both 7s, one is just a better 7. However, since PSA does not really mean that, there will be a difference in the registries and 7.5s will be worth more to a set than a 7 will, even though PSA is saying they are still both 7s in the grand scheme of things.

It's just doublespeak.

please remember PSA is a company in business to make $$$$. not just to please collectors. though pissing off collectors/customers wont help them make $$$$$. but they probably figure that they have x amount of market share that they cant loose too many customers do to their already being the leading grading service.
