    I wonder if Joe ever accepted to the invitation to attend. I mean, I know he was illiterate, but he would have had someone read this letter to him.

    Calling collect is not that ancient!! I remember it from the 70s!!

    The 70's? Heck, I still remember that from the 90's and with cell phones no less. I used to work for a company in Boston that handled the service. It was $4 a minute plus inter-connect charges.
  • I remember calling collect too but I havn't heard of it since the late eighties/early ninties. And I was only in middle school back then so it was like "the olden days" image
