Thurman Munson Autograph Opinion?

This autograph is part of a collection I am selling. I will be getting it authenticated before I sell it, but I wanted to get some opinions of the board members. According to the owner he got this in person. I haven't seen enough Munson autos to know if this is a good one or not. Thanks in advance.

Doesnt look like the Munson auto's I have seen but you never really know with auto's.

Whether it is real or not doesnt even matter, all the matters is if PSA will authenticate it.

  • At first I didn't think so, but now I'm not sure. Looking at the index card below (assuming it was signed in 1974), it looks kind or similar to yours, but the "M"s are different. The card below the index card is one of his later autographs that I think most of us are used to seeing.

I believe that may be a legit Munson sig , it bears a lot of the characteristics of Authenticated examples .

Naturally it does have some differences from many others, but most signatures do .

I can write my name 15 times and I will have 15 signatures that have subtle differences , there are things we all do ALL THE TIME though when we sign our name and that is what I try to look for .

I think a lot of times when these larger than life ball players try to fit their big name on that little card , it plays on their ego and it may show when they sign .

The problem is that the NY on Munsons jersey is obscuring a lot of the sig.
  • Looks close enough that I would spend the money on authentication.
  • Both legit ones have the M separated from the rest of the last name, while the 1974 one is continuous. There are other differences too. I would say that it is bogus, but I am not an expert.

I 'm pretty sure this one on eBay before. I don't think it's ligit. For what it's worth, I bought a raw Munson auto and eventually had it authenticated & slabbed.
