First night home - slab shooting

I simply love the way it brings out the color. However, it is also amazing at bringing-out the the hairlines.

Thank you for a compliment, Brent, but don't sell your images short - those shots of the Rouble not long ago were fantastic. And I still remember that PL Sede Vacante from your posts a few months back, which was gorgeous

Impressive indeed! I don't think I will ever come close to that quality and this is your first night with the new gizmo (then again lots of experience with the camera makes a BIG difference too... I can't wait to see more!

JZ - It's a Canon Rebel XT with a Sigma 105mm Macro lens. Tripod, timer with mirror lock and custom white balance.

Super color on that 1809 Ferdinand Reales......wow.....really picks up the finger prints on the slab too.

Your images always impress me.

Yup... Otts are phenomenal at giving a realistic vision of the coin... whether it be good, bad, or ugly.

Thanks, Richard! Those slabs are pretty beat-up. That's why all 3 of those, plus some others, are going to PCGS for cross-over.

Very nice, Roman. I know how difficult those first two coins are to image.

Good luck on the cross. I think the CAR 8R should get at least an AU55.

Well, the package is on its way to PCGS for cross-over. Current grades are: 1824 CAR - NGC AU50, 1809 Mex 8R - NGC AU58, Baden Thaler - ANACS 45. I also included two other coins for cross-over: 1814 Guadalajara 8R in NGC AU50 amd a Type-I (Medal Alignment) 1842 Zacatecas 8 Reales in ANACS AU53 holder. I am hoping the last one gets crossed as an AU. It's a scarce, early strike before the reverse die, as well as the alignment were changed after the first few months. Anyone familiar with pre-1842 Zacatecas dies knows how much of a pain it is to find it in anything higher than XF, so - fingers crossed
