MS67 Morgan, good price?

These are the seller's pics. What do you think would be a good price for such a coin? It was offered to me at $6k, but I'm not going to buy it (just don't want to spend that much on a Morgan right now), but if another forum member wants it I can put you in contact with the seller.

    Toning doesn't look terribly attractive, but is multi-colored, so it's probably neither a positive or negative. The three most recent 67s at Heritage are all white NGC coins that sold for $5,175 or less, reflecting the risk that the coins wouldn't cross at 67 to PCGS holders. The most recent PCGS coin was sold for $8,625 and was nearly white. No toned coins in recent history. A 78-S should have really good luster under that toning. Would need a better picture or in-person viewing to tell if I like the coin as a nice 67. As of now, however, I'm indifferent to it on the eye-appeal scale.

    I have seen that coin in person many times before and it's been bounced around from dealer to dealer for the last few years. On the other hand if you like the toning and need the coin for a set or for a customer then you should consider it.

    If I was going to spend the jack for a 67 Morgan, I would try and find a more eye appealing example.

    The coin is not overly appealing, but a 78-S in 66 is about the same price as a common Morgan in 67. But if ya need a 78-S in 67.

    Mottled and unexciting toning in today's market? Not a chance.
    Not a safe play in this bifurcated market unless you are a Morgan whiz than can play such a coin.

    Good reason why it has bounced from home to home.

    If I was going to pay 67 money, I'd want a coin that looks 67, that is, perfect, blazing white, luster and all. I have a crappy 66 that I hate and would gladly trade for a 65 that looked better!

    1878 S in PCGS ms67 is a pop 19/1 coin. Not many to go around.

    If I were going to buy a generic ms67 I would buy a 80s in 67 (preferrably a 67DMPL). More bang for the buck if all you want is a 67.

    I don't think PCGS has graded a 1878 S in ms67 for a loooong time (they might have graded one in the last few years as I remember it being a 18/1 coin).

    She who may not be mentioned once told me something about what sells for Morgans - either wild color or blast white, but very little in between. Mottled moderate to heavy toning on a Morgan is retail death...

    You are better off buying a key date Morgan for that price than a common date in an "exceptional grade" but unexceptional eye appeal.

    At least the key date would appreciate in value and be resalable.
    Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

    The eye appeal really kills it, maybe it would look better with one of those cac stickers.
