Need help with strange quarter I found.....

Hi,

I had a customer (I own a c-store), pay for an item with change. One of the quarters is very odd. It is 1965. One side is a regular US quarter. The other side is Canadian...has Elizabeth the 2nd on it. This thing is weird. There is no way an amateur put this together. It looks, feels, like a US quarter, except for the back. Even the small lines on the rim line up.

Has anyone seen or heard of this?? I can post a picture in a few minutes, if you want.

Thought I would ask the experts, since I am lost.

I'd bet it's a canadian quarter ground down to fit inside the alterred US quarter.

I have a penny that was machined on once side to fit a dime in. Pretty neat.

Does it look anything like this? I think whoever made this pressed the back half of the dime and the penny together...
