53 Topps Satchell Paige ebay auction /need 53's?

I have several raw 53 topps and Bowmans all from an original lot so conditions are pretty uniform. A few of the graded topps are:

    you've sold 2 items in the past year; you're selling an expensive card, seemingly out of nowhere, and your auction is private? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen with all due respect.

    I didn't become a thief recently and by being a private auction it only holds the bidders id's as private which I've noticed is common in more expensive card auctions or where a dealer may buy a card to resale and not want others to know what he paid for it. However I realize the cards are somewhat traceable by their PSA ID numbers(duh). I really don't care one way or another myself that's why I started the bidding price at $500 (which I would gladly sell the card at). I've sold civil war diaries and spalding baseball trophies from the 1920's for thousands of dollars. It's just Christmas time and I'd like to generate some income : ). herbie55

    there's probably a good chance you're a legit seller but private id's are scary. We had a recent thread dedicated to a seller who used PIDs for all his auctions and he turned out to be a scammer. BTW, VCP tracks all sales on ebay with links to the bids so whether it's private or not, the sale will be tracked. But, since you're selling a card with a cert#, at least it's out in the open.     Thanks for the heads up...I'll just go with the regular auction format from now on. How was he scamming? Do you mean he was shilling his own auctions? I can see how the private id would be a bad thing then. I doubt I can change it now that someone has bid on it. ...just looked and don't think I can now. Oh well, lesson learned.

    this guy was selling trimmed cards and since the bidder's id was private, they could not be "warned". And, you could not contact the people who won any of his auctions in the past. He was NARUd finally but a lot of people got burned.
