Suggestions on first cards for me to sell on ebay.

I'm going to start listing cards on ebay and would like some examples of specific cards that would be good for me to list until I get my name built up. I know they should be really inexpensive, but at the same time I need to make a little money so I can start sending cards in for grading. Whats a safe price to charge for shipping? Whats a safe way to describe the card since I've never sold cards on ebay before, and I've never sent cards in to get graded yet. (I do have alot of graded cards that I can use for reference though).
Should I list them "Buy it now" since they will be low dollar cards? For starters I am probably only going to sell cards form the 1980-1995. I do have a bunch of mint condition 1986 traded/update sets that I took the Bonds cards out of, would it be a good idea to try and sell the rest of the cards from those sets? I guess I could make some small individual player lots, but dont have time to make up any team sets.

    Honestly, not trying to rain on your parade, those are some tough years to sell because of the amount produced. I would start by doing player lots first. You can usually ship first class one pound for around $2 and priority for $4.60. Insurance is usually $1.65. If you click on my store link below you can see some of the stuff that I've listed to sell. As far as those years go, I really only do player lots and complete sets. If you have any auto's or game used those sell pretty well too. If you need to get mailers you can to to www.royalmailers.com and type in the discount code "collectors". That's what most of the guys do on here.

    If you sell lots by team or player that may be a way to move unwanted items faster. Stay away from any wax box from 1988 to ???? the shipping is more than the sale prices on Ebay. save those for the flea market easy sells at ten per imo. If you sell singles@ low cost offer 2 shipping options PWE for a dollar- use a penny sleeve top loader and TEAM BAG! Team bag! TEAM BAG. ok, the reason for a team bag is no tape tape ruins cards!. 99.99% of the time a PWE will be ok this way. For higher priced cards use a bubblemailer, buy in bulk not at the grocerymegastore. And any card you sell and ship without Delivery Confimation prepare to eat the sale. Ok enough for now...must watch Mythbusters. Mike

    Just be honest and do not over grade your cards. Supply a good scan or picture and let the buyer see just what he is getting. For shipping be reasonable, there is nothing I hate more than sellers making the majority of their money on shipping.

    I tend to stay away from the auctions that say HIGH GRADE CARD… my opinion is if they are such a gradable card why isn’t the seller submitting them to be graded?

    Since you are primarily selling very low value cards I would not be looking to make money but rather be building up feedback. Then in a couple months start selling more expensive cards. Just remember it's all about feedback when selling these cheap cards so don't get into battles of will with people; just refund and move on. Good luck.

    Agreed. Also a good idea to have a brief refund policy in your write up... makes people feel a little safer when buying raw.
