I lost a card...

Goddammit. I've been looking for this card for years, I find it on eBay for a steal, and now I lose it in my apartment.

Please let me know if you happen to see it.

Drew, I've had that happen more times that I can count. I keep my regular sized Butlers in a 800 ct. box, but at one time I kept all my oversized stuff in an empty Heritage box. I purged one day and several days later I got to thinking about that box. After a couple hours of serious frantic searching (and not a little thought about driving to the dump) I finally came across the cards in a wooden box my wife had given me. I must've removed them from the Heritage box and forgotten all about it.

It'll turn up - missing cards usually do.

To this day nearly every time I visit my mothers home ( the house I grew up in ) I spend some time searching for a beat up 1962 Mantle card that I lost in my bedroom when I was around 13 or 14. In my heart I know the card was tossed out, or even worse stolen, but there is that 1% of hope inside me that one day it will turn up !

Join the club. I've done it many times.
A couple of weeks ago, I lost the USF Bulls Football tickets I just got for the last 3 home games of the season. Took 2 hours of searching and a lot of cussing before I finally crashed. Couldn't sleep worth a @*%*@#% that night. Next day I found them in a really stupid place in all of about 30 seconds!!

Right before you find it, you'll say something like...."oh yeah! That's right, I put it there because..."

    I can't stand that.

I've been looking for certain cards for quite awhile in my abode. I usually find them when I'm looking for other things.

I was late for work the other day because I lost my keys. Looked everywhere for 30 minutes. Even called my wife at work accusing her of taking both sets of keys. I sat down at my computer to think and there they were, plugged into the back. I just got a new usb jump drive that I keep on my key ring and I had to email some stuff off of it the night before. Had I not sat down, it could have gone on for hours.

    Aha! I found it.

I even found *another* card that I'd completely forgotten about.

Time to scan 'em, update my site and put 'em in the binder!

    << <i>OK, where was it? >>

It was actually inside my Standard Catalog. I remember looking up a bunch of regional/team issue Will Clark cards after I received that one in the mail. I've got a bunch of new additions to add to the Mail Call thread tonight!

    Drew

    Same thing happened to me.

    But my theory?

I left it on the counter in the kitchen - back then we had an "open" garbage pail - and the cat loves to bat stuff around.

So, I think she scored a FG and batted it right into the garbage and I never saw it.

It was a PSA graded card and worth at least 80 bucks!

We cant leave anything on the counters either. The cats will have a blast playing with it and then hiding it, whatever it is. They love to knock the un paid bills in the trash. Good for awhile, till you get that late notice. image

  • ive misplaced a 1986 fleer set for the longest time....seriously!
ive got about 20 stars pulled that i put in a snap-case, but the set box has disappeared...its been 2-3 years now. Im thinking it was grabbed by either
    1. gas man, when he came to replace the meter in the basement
    2. oil burner guy, when he came to clean it
    3. hot water heater guy when he came to install
    4. sucked into a vortex/alternate universe!
