Home Buy, Sell, & Trade - U.S. Coins

.

Today I had 2 auctions I was bidding on ended.

I had 1 sale closed earlier this week because it was in a capital plastic holder and now (5 days into the sale) I had a dime ended because I listed it as an "AU"

Between this and the new search feature they are just out of control.

Does anyone want to create a new ebay just for coins? The timing is excellent.

I agree that they are changing way too many things. Now, if you relist an item , you won't get a relisting fee credit if you change the catagory it's listed in image

Thank you for your bid on the following auction-style listing:

    Item number: 220162207569
Title: 1873 S Seated Dime AU PCGS Guide is $490

Unfortunately, eBay has removed this auction-style listing. All bids or offers on this listing have been canceled. Because the listing was ended, you no longer have any obligation to purchase this item.

Listings are removed for different reasons. For example:
    - The way the item was listed may violate eBay policy.
    - The sale of the item may be prohibited by eBay.
    - The sale of the item may be prohibited by law.
    - The removal may be part of a separate action taken by eBay that is unrelated to the listing itself.

We hope you understand that, due to privacy concerns, we're unable to discuss the details of why this listing was ended. However, please note that the removal of this listing should not suggest that this seller's standing in the eBay Community has been called into question.

That's what I thought when I saw Ajia's post with the actual title.....once again, an important bit of information was left out by someone complaining...all I saw in the OP was sayin it was ended because of stating "AU" and that obviously wasn't it.

Not only that, if it was in a Capital Plastics' holder, WHY state the PCGS price for AU grade? Hmmmmm? Sure isn't in PCGS plastic. Why not be honest to the people? Either grade it with PCGS and then state their price guide or leave it off if it isn't theirs.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • ebay is geared toward a safe, pleasant shopping experience. there are now more rules to appease the buyers who expect to buy $100 coins for $12 and not get burned once in a while. remember people, if we could make buying decisions based on our own authentication, grading and pricing skills, ebay would have more free time to conjure up new search methods but then no one would complain and cry and piss and moan about all the misrepresented junk coins on ebay. kind of like buying form the mint, people beech about how bad the service is and how unfair the sales are but they keep going back, can anyone explain what frontal lobe malfunction prohibits these people from realizing that THEY have the power to avoid risky transactions, and that more useless rules will not somehow shield them from evil, it just creates headaches for the rest of us

The title as shown by ajia violated the rules, to my understanding, when one references the PCGS price guide (or any other price guide).

Why do people whine when they are the ones who did not follow the rules?

Has anyone else seen webidz.com? They are an ebay alternative. Traffic is building but action is limited. I suspect that if they add an escrow service for big ticket items, maybe they will get a boost.

I signed up over two yrs ago and promptly forgot about them. A couple months ago, ebay jerked me around so I listed a couple coins on webidz. Listing fees were 8 cents each as I recall and they do not charge for sales. To me, it's cheaper that hosting a site but then again, there aren't many bids in any categories.

While fees will likely follow once the site gets more traction, right now its dirt cheap!

At least there was clarification on why the auction was cancelled.....kinda.....

Was it the reference to a price guide in the title, OR a reference to PCGS on a raw coin? Or both?

Your thread title - "Ebay is totally out of control ending sales". The auction title CLEARLY violated the posted policy. So translating, Ebay is totally out of control for following the rules posted on their website to which all users agree to abide.

That's like a cop being totally out of control for writing a ticket if someone exceeds the posted speed limit.

The price guide amount (suggestion of value) in the title is not allowed but in the body it is.

That is what powersellers told me

Yeah, that's keyword spamming, I'm glad that auction was pulled. That kind of thing shouldn't be tolerated on eBay. Not all their new rules are great, but at least the spammers out there are getting what they deserve.

Careful before the OP PMs you a nicely veiled threat that you may be starting to annoy him and, if you do, he will get back at you

The auction was wrong, for reasons stated, the post was a whine (one of many), and threats can come back to backfire on people image

This is the exact reason I blocked you as a bidder I don't want to deal with you, all you do is like to attack people with your poorly formed negative comments. You are such a negative person and all you do is call every post a whine, do you have anything POSITVE to add to anything?

Did you actually reference Wikipedia seateddime? You're aware that anybody can update that site...it's not really a quality source for information. Also, you weren't trying to bid on the coin on wikipedia were you? Cause who cares what they say, you need to worry about the eBay rules, not wikipedia's.

Sure, like EVERYBODY abides by this! image

Just about everybody uses the PCGS value guide, whether or not the coin has been graded by PCGS; or NGC or ANACS or PCI or........

The violation was to have this in the title, nothing more.

If seateddime decides to have this in his copy or not is his prerogative, but rules will not allow this in the title.

I was under the impression if it is not in the "approved certified list", you can not reference a price guide, or opinion of price ANYWHERE, not just the title. Quote below. Also, OP, you you may want to add full shots of the slab front and back to your current auctions or they will likely get pulled as well (just going by what others are saying on the coin forum)

    Raw and Uncertified Coins

A raw or uncertified coin is defined as any coin not graded by one of the authorized grading companies. Sellers are permitted to list these items on eBay under the following conditions:

    * A numeric grade is not included in the title of the listing, such as MS-65, VF-25, etc. A numeric grade may only be included in the description of the listing.

    * The grading company or price guide is not referenced in the title or description.

    * A dollar value (even if personal opinion) is not included in the title or description.
