Question about vending boxes

I was opening up a couple of older baseball vending boxes that I bought a while back and noticed that some of the cards had wax stains on them. The same wax stains that you'd get from wax packs. I was under the impression that vending boxes were put together at the factory, and not from cards that would have been in packs. Can anyone clear this up for me? Also, I think I've read on these boards before about people having size problems with cards coming from vending boxes - ie. cards being under minimum size requirements. Any truth to this?

<< <i>Sorry bro, but you got taken! It is 100% impossible to have wax stains on cards from a vending box. Do you happen to buy these from a guy named Gary? >>
maybe it was Stephanie

And no, these boxes didn't not come from Gary/Stephanie. Came from someone I buy a lot from and have great trust in.
