pulled a griffey from a box of 89 ud, but...NEED HELP!

it's stuck to another card. a whole box and this was the only time it happened....I can see the back of the Griffey card...and it's centered perfectly. HOW DO I GET IT UNSTUCK WITHOUT DAMAGING THE FRONT????? PLEASE HELP. I'LL INCLUDE A SCAN AFTER THIS ORDEAL IS OVER...THANKS A LOT!!

Just send it back to Upper Deck. They're still printing them and will send you a new one.

throw them in a ziplock and freeze them

Try putting it in the freezer for a couple of hours, works for gum stuck to cards.

Freezing does work sometimes but what I find more effective is to boil a pot of water and hold the cards over the pot and the steam will loosen them up.

This works great for peeling the protective films off cards as well.

just be sure that its the other card held over the steam and not the griffey! LOL Ive never tried to unstick 89 upperdeck before.

Is the hologram intact too?

Believe it or not, the steam wont hurt them. I have steamed many an Emmitt card, getting the protector off.

Just dont drop it in the water and you will be fine

Just to add a thought?

How about freezing it - then gently steaming it - the "shock" of going from ice cold to hot may separate the two.

Unfortunately they're exactly the same material - if the two were different - then going from hot to cold would definitely separate them since the coefficience of thermal expansion and contraction for the two materials would be different - thus causing separation - like with plastic and glass stuck together.

I've used steam, I've also put in the freezer. If I were you, I'd go the steam route. As was said above, put the other card closer to the steam. It shouldn't take long for the cards to unstick.

sorry i haven't replied...i had to work tonight...anyways, thanks for the tips. i froze them...but i think they are siamese cards or something...they're not gonna budge....i'm just gonna chalk this one up to my bad luck. i have a lot of it. OUCH...okay, it's done, there was no saving this one guys...i'll scan a pic in the morning. i can't believe these were the only 2 cards stuck together in the entire box, and it was the only griffey i pulled. did pull four randy johnsons though, a biggio and a couple of smoltzies. should all grade a 9-10. this sucks...

i honestly don't think it would have worked...they were very stuck. the tear is halfway through the card...not just the picture part. i don't know how this happened, but that's life i guess. i just don't get how these were the only 2 stuck together out of the entire box...

It would have worked. The steam would have softened it up enough to get them apart. Freezing doesnt do that, it hardens things.

What I dont get is when you removed them from the freezer and realized they were still stuck, why didnt you try the steam? You had the advice right there but didnt try it.
