More PSA nonsense

I sent in some tickets to get graded.
Date Received: 08/23/2007
Date of Grades Posted: No Date Specified
Date Shipped: No Date Specified
(the date received should have been earlier, but that's another story.)
I call yesterday to check on the order and I am told it is 45 days on the ticket.
I check the website, it says 30 days. I call back, I am told it takes 35 days (a different operator).
Are you sure I say? (I know the answer) She checks, oh, my mistake, it's 30 days.
She says let me see if there's a problem with the order. She comes back, no problems.
I ask if there's a guarantee, like with cards, she says no. (It does say approx. on the website).
So here I am, day 35, left with no options except to post something on the boards for other members to see.

Nonsense that 2 different customer service reps would give me 2 different answers as to the time it takes.
Nonsense that grading tickets does not have the same guarantee that cards have. (This is not a monthy special).
Nonsense to use approx. ( Is 36 approx 30? Is 40 approx. 30?)
(And since the customer service rep told me yesterday was day 34, today makes 35.)
<< <i>You're on Day 33. The day they recieved the cards does not count and take away Labor and Columbus Days you have 33. It also does not guarantee a 30 day turnaround. It say approximately 30 days. >>
If PSA (obviously) does not have the ability to make good on their claims, it is dishonest and pathetic to make such "approximations" in order to lure people to submit.
ebay i.d. clydecoolidge - Lots of vintage stars and HOFers, raw, condition fully disclosed.
you gotta be kidding me. It is hardly dishonest and pathetic. How does PSA know how many cards will be submitted in any given timeframe? You would need to know this in order to give an exact turnaround time, right? They say "approximate". I don't think anyone is being lured into submitting cards to PSA. But, if you feel you're being lured, don't submit to PSA. Send them to someone else. That's the best way to demonstrate your unhappiness.

I have been. Just submitted/sold several from BGS.
BTW, if you think that they don't know they're going to be grossly behind (>>>>45 days) when they offer $5/card specials, you have been successfully brainwashed. Some Kool-Aid???

jmbkb4, that's great news. It will keep the PSA pops lower and we'll all benefit. And, BTW, this thread topic is about somone who is on day 33 of an approximately 30 day turnaround. That is hardly "grossly behind". But, I agree with ebayaddict, PSA can do things better. I just think this particular complaint would be a very tiny blip on my radar screen. But, if he wants to have a stroke over it, that's great.

That's not the point. The point is, PSA is creating an expectation whether they guarantee a turnaround in 30 days or not. Even if it is only "approximate", that expectation is still created with the customer. The multiple complaints that have arisen seem to imply that not only is the expectation not being met, it's not even close.
I generally don't care as much as others about this issue, but to suggest that customers are in the wrong after seeing post after post after post like this is akin to hiding your head in the sand.

Ron, well said. I agree with your point about the expectation. Better to set lower expectations and overachieve. I don't know if "it's not even close", however. I don't think you can jump to that conclusion.

I am on business day 62 for the June Special. Is it beyond reasonable yet?

Ron,
I understand where you are coming from but PSA clearly has several services with guaranteed turn a round times. Just have to pay a little more....
Also, I don't believe anyone who reads these boards really expect specials within their 45- business day approximation. After seeing thread after thread after thread of complaints, shouldn't they know better? Seriously.. I cannot recall the last time the first page didn't have a complaint thread. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just is what it is.
There are plenty of options available:
1) Use PSA's guarantee time-frame and pay accordingly
2) To spend as little money as possible, expect a 2 to 3 month wait.
3) Worst case, use a competitor's service.
For whatever reason (be for personal or business use), a majority go with options 1 and/or 2.
I would consider nonsense someone losing my stuff or something along those lines .
They're backed up , if they could get the cards done sooner I'm sure they would .
Obviously, no matter what anyone says, a majority would still rather have their cards/tickets in a PSA holder .

If PSA has a problem getting out the majority of their approx 30 day orders in 30 days, they should change it to read approx. 40 days or whatever. I think that is the point that people are making is that very few if any subs are coming out in the approximated time. Me, I wouldnt really care how long it took, but I would expect them to at least be somewhat accurate in their turnaround times
