Ok, first of all are 52 Topps Mantles that rare?? You have to love the blurred pictures and no mention, of course, that this is a card with out any borders!!

I guess it depends on what your definition of "rare" is. I do consider it a rare card. Aside from it being a Mantle card, the prices that card demands speaks for itself. You don't get ahold of one for cheap, so I guess I consider it rare that I'll ever have a 5 or above, lol.

Why does this seller have two of the same pics of this card? and a 15,000 starting bid on a clearly trimmed borderless POS. For that kind of money you could easily pick up a graded PSA 5 example.
There is about a 0% chance that this card is even authentic. The only good thing about this auction is that this clown has paid a hefty listing fee to throw this piece of crap up on the 'bay.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
"Don't forget this PSA card gets cracked and resubmitted quite a bit so there certainly are less than 822 out there. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting observation about the numbers .
Naturally it is not the only card they are doing that to as well .
I wonder now how many really have been graded when the same card has been graded 10 times times or whatever ??
Or do they know for certain each individual card ?

I love how people always have to make such claims.

361 of them are 5 or better.
No, that's not a "rare" card. It's a "desirable" card, that's all.
And if you want to get really technical, there's more 1952 Mantles graded than ANY OTHER CARD in the entire 1952 Topps set.
All the 1952 Topps high numbers are rare but the Mantle was one of 3 double prints in the last series.

A T206 Wagner is "rare"... you cant find them. And when they do come out, they're in the hundreds of thousands (not factoring the McNall/Gretzky).
There's a 1952 Topps Mantle card on eBay EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Yeah, it's pricey, but that's just demand..... not supply.
