Ongoing Daily '07 A&G Hobby Box Rip

I'm going to try to master the art of patience, and open just a few packs a day. And, of course, post the results here.

Yes, it's a tease. No, I don't care. image

I'm about to open a couple tonight....results will be posted shortly.

I'm going to bold the pulls that I think are cool. If I miss anything, let me know! image

Just for kicks, I went through the box and held the packs in each hand (before opening any packs at all), trying to see if any were heavier. The only one that seemed heavier to me was the first one I opened....and it had a relic. None of the others seemed as heavy. I thought pack two had something, but I missed it. I just wanted to see if "pack weighing" was easy or not with these. I just can't figure out why only one seemed heavier if there's supposed to be two pulls per box. Maybe I just didn't judge it well enough. haha.

    Anyway, just food for thought.

Talk about patience, the last thing I ripped was a blaster (my only one) of A&G back in July! Although, that is due mostly to funds and my ebay purchases. For some reason, I just think whenever I buy blasters, that same $20 on retail packs could buy me 2 Carl Crawford autos. Maybe I should go open one of my 84 topps rack packs that I have sitting in that shoebox?

I have an '80 Topps Rack, '78 Topps Rack, 3 '83 Fleer Racks, a '77 OPC Wax Pack, and a '72 Topps Wax pack staring me in the face, but I just can't bring myself to bust 'em. The '83 Fleer will be busted eventually, but as far as any of the others go, I'd be too heartbroken if I didn't get anything great. I'm weird about that. Luckily, lately, I have gotten some nice pulls from '83 Fleer Racks (2 Sandbergs, a Gwynn, and a perfect Boggs).

Yeah I understand the whole "gambling" side of opening packs. For someone that doesn't have a lot of money, I don't take bad boxes (the 2 I've opened not including blasters) extremely well. Nice little pack collection by the way.

Bro, I totally hear you on that. I'm a musician for a living, so trust me....I don't have much money. image

I don't take well to bad boxes either. My first A&G box was actually really good. My second one was HORRIBLE. I'm hoping this one will be better. I've had at least one good card in 3 of the 4 packs I've opened thus far, so that's a good start! I didn't have any of them.

Your opening two packs a day makes me want to go out and buy more packs to rip myself, which costs me money I don't have, and is therefore bad for me. If you would just open the entire box all at once..... well I would still want to go out and buy packs to rip with money that I don't have but at least you would make everyone happy. image

You should just binge and purge like the rest of us! That would be binge by buying the cards and opening them RIGHT AWAY, all at once, and purge by draining your wallet and Paypal account.
Just kidding of course, I wish I had the self control that you do. I ripped 3 hobby boxes in about an hour on Monday.

You don't seem to have picked up the pace any, Ryan. But be honest with us. You opened this box in the parking lot 5 minutes after you bought it, didn't you? You are just now reporting your findings to show us how "patient" you are. image I do predict a Dice-K or A-Rod Bazooka in your future, though.

hahahaha....no i'm really opening them as I post them. The ridiculous part is that I think I actually enjoy the anticipation more. I like the feeling of being able to open something whenever I want. Stupid I know, but I like it. haha.

I haven't really gotten a single thing out of this box that really excited me. The Dice-K mini was nice though. Didn't have one of those yet.

Including this box (although it's not opened altogether yet), I've opened three hobbys, 3 blasters, and 2 retails. I've pulled one ink, no bazookas, three common no numbers, no printing plates, no rip cards, no 1887 originals, no big pull autos, and not even one star black border card (all are commons). image

Here's a question for you A&G experts: If you pull two relics out of a box, is there a chance for any other big pulls other than minis? (i.e. can you get a THIRD big pull out of the box? is it even possible?)

Yes, I have pulled two crappy relics and a rip card or an autographed card out of the same box. It seems that the rip cards don't "count" as pull cards, although you can tell where they are when standing the packs on their side, they are thicker than other relics and sketch cards.

Not the worst box ever, but nothing that really got me too excited. The Dice-K A&G back was probably the only pull that excited me at all.

    So....

3 Hobby Boxes, 2 Retail Boxes, 3 Blasters later. ZERO bazookas, one autograph (Baffert), no rip cards (would've been nice to get lucky), no black border stars whatsoever, no cool one-offs of any kind.

Maybe I wanted too much (and that's ok if that's the case...sometimes I get like that), but I think I've had pretty bad luck with A&G overall.
