Got bored with nothing to rip...

I have the following on the way: '07 Allen & Ginter Hobby Box, '86 Donruss Wax Box ($1.99 on eBay...that's not a typo), and an '89 Fleer Wax Box ($8.00 on eBay....come on Ripken Error variations).

image

I know they're nothing huge, but I think they'll be fun rips. I was always a big McGriff fan...and I never did get that rookie card from a pack. Gotta love re-living childhood memories. hahaha.

    Yep. 6.99 shipped. image

    I couldn't believe it either.

  • Local card shop sells 86 Donruss for $1.50 a pack! I bought a couple on a whim a few months ago and pulled a blazing Canseco. Too bad he had to get bonked on the head by a homer and admit he juiced.

jamesryanbell--I'd say you have a sickness, except you haven't gotten into the 90 Topps or Donruss yet. When you start ripping those, you're into the baseball card equivalent of a lowgrade crack or meth habit *grin*

The way your luck has been going, you'll pull the rarer Ripken and Randy Johnson versions.
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

  • Though the odds of you getting anything rare are probally 100 to 1. Heres a list of possible errors with corrections from 1989 Fleer. When buying 1989 Fleer the best bets are buy from non collectors. Grandpas who stashed them away and the Grandkids are not worthy bcause they're in jail kinda people. Current collectors crack cases and move the junk. In my experiences.

    Romine Action/Pose

    Trillio Throws Right/Rig...

Boggs Spot/No Spot --------------AFTER HIS POSITION ON BACK

Young sideways S/No S ----------UNDER WORD PITCHER ON FRONT. LIGHT BLUE

    Ashby Throws Right/Rig

    Vandeberg Throws Left/Lef

    Parrish handwritten i in Parrish

Orsulack white Spot on cage/no white spot, actually you can see gray

    G. Hernandez 4 variations (red spot on armpit, lighter,Whiteout, not visible)

    Heep San Antonio/Lake Hills

Treadway Target /no target -----------------LITE BLUE ABOVE HEAD

    Allen Syosset/Saratosa

    Moses Phoenix/Tempe

    Heath/Brookens switched backs

plus I remember a Henderson spelled Hendersor Unsure if C-List or actual card. Never seen !! Real ???

R Johnson- many different variations of corrections over Billboard. 4+

If this is the auction your talking about 1986 Donruss Wax - Jose Canseco or McGriff Rookies??? your not getting a full box.

    From the item description:

YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1986 DONRUSS BASEBALL BOX.THIS BOX CONTAINS THREE WAX PACKS!!!!!! ROGER CLEMENS AND KIRBY PUCKETTS 2ND YEAR, CANSECO, AND MCGRIFFS ROOKIE YR. THERE ARE THREE UNOPENED WAX PACKS IN THIS AUCTION.

  • jamesryanbelljamesryanbell Posts: 1,115 ✭✭✭
Oh! LOL!!! Didn't even see that. I bid on it with seconds left.

    image

So I'm taking a crack at a whopping three wax packs. image

The others are full boxes though! (THE A&G BETTER BE...I paid $94 for it. LOL!)
    -- Ryan Bell
  • Ouch. The auction is deceptive in my opinion. The guy just got two negs also.
  • BarfvaderBarfvader Posts: 2,859 ✭✭✭✭
Seems that others thought they were getting full boxes as well.

    From their wonderful feedback.

tricky, looked like the box was the auction, not just the pack
Show 2 Complete Boxes - And bid on 2 Packs - What is THAT !!!!

Hope you get something good out of the packs.
  • Definitely misleading, even if the info is all there. My lord, some guy paid $41 for a pack of 89 upper deck. Local shop charges $8 and it's a jyp joint!
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

No problem. I learned its easiest to save it on word. image

  • What a jerk of a seller... Descriptions very misleading... here is the UD pack, it worse than his 86 auction.

"YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1989 UPPER DECK BOX OF BASEBALL CARDS!!! THIS BOX CONTAINS ONE UNOPENED PACK IN THIS AUCTION!!!!

THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR OF THE UPPER DECK CARD AND HAS GREAT ROOKIES SUCH AS GRIFFEY JR, RANDY JOHNSON, GARY SHEFFIELD, CRAIG BIGGIO, AND SO MANY MORE GREAT CARDS. PLUS YOU HAVE A CHANCE AT THE DALE MURPHY REVERSED NEGATIVE ERROR CARD IN PACKS!!!!! THERE IS ONE UNOPENED FOIL PACK FROM A BOX IN THIS AUCTION. These packs have 15 cards and are fresh from an original BOX purchased in 1989. These packs are unopened and unsearched in any way so of course no one knows what cards may be inside. Try for a KEN GRIFFEY JR PSA-10!!! or all the other many rookies from this year!!!! HOF'erS You all know early baseball packs are tough to find and 1989 was a particularly tough year. Bid accordingly."

I would consider a "box of baseball cards" to mean more than one pack!
    image
  • I wonder if he actually sends the box along with the pack as stated in the description.

  • jamesryanbelljamesryanbell Posts: 1,115 ✭✭✭
I'm not really upset about it guys....image

It was $1.99 plus $5 shipping. I can live with a $7 mistake, and plus I still have the packs to open. image

I got my A&G Hobby box about 5 minutes ago!!! image

The '89 Fleer box will be fun to open...

Amazing, I hope this seller is having a good time misleading his customers... image

  • How much are those 89 fleer errors worth?

I cracked a cello box and regular box last year, and I've got probably 1,000-1,200 commons (I never throw things away...).

  • << <i>How much are those 89 fleer errors worth?

I've never even seen the treadway in real life. That must be a TOUGH error.
    -- Ryan Bell
  • Yeah, its a rare one. Little interest though. Usually sell for $20 and around 5-10 ebay auctions a year.

I was in desperate need for $$ a few months back. Listed 20+ 89 Fleer errors with corrections. Had the Marlboro error, Treadway error etc.. Sold for a little over $20. That was one deal I wanted to back out of. image
