What will these grade??

Will be sending in these cards in the near future. Thoughts on their grades??imageimageimage

Comments

  • I think most will grade between a 7-8. The '57 Mantle 4 O/C and the 2 '55 Bowmans look like a 5.

6's on the 63s and 5s on the bowman.

    nice cards.

    Thanks,

I agree... without seeing up close.. most look like 8's with 9 possibility..
generally mean 7-8 when they are in hand..

The pessimist in me thinks the '55B Mantle is trimmed. The right edge looks nice and sharp while the left edge corners are slightly rounded.

But, if someone was gonna trim that card, there's plenty of border room on the left, so you'd figure they'd trim that side while they were at it.

Actually the 57 Mantle has a slight vertical crease a little over an inch long running directly between the words Mickey and Mantle. If you look close you can see it. I've never sent in a card I thought would get less than a 6 or 7 so I'm not sure what it'll get. Obviously, it's OC badly. The Power Plus should be a 6 minimum with good chance of a 7. I've never had any 63s graded. The 63 NL ERA Leaders is an 8 I think. The 64 Sox Sockers is the nicest card of the bunch, an 8 I think. I'm sure they're tough on the colored borders of the 63 FB as well. I say the Stautner gets a 7. The 64 Oliva should be a 7 or 8. Hoping for 7 on the NL RBI ldrs. it's a little OC and not quite as sharp. The 55 Bowman Mantle is better than the Aaron, the Aaron has a bend on the top right corner that can't be seen in the scan. Thanks for the comments.

No one can really give you a realistic opinion with those scans.

If you have the time, just keep the images at their original size, crop the cards individually, then resize and post them here.

People can then give you a much more educated opinion..

    Good luck image
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

The 63 fb looks gorgeous from here. I have bought a ton from similar scans on eBay and with the colored border you can usually pick up how worn the corners are. Those sure look sharp. I think it certainly has an 8 possibility based on the scan but like the others have said, it is too far away to be able to tell with any certainty.

Good luck. If you have any more 63's I may know a ready, willing and able buyer. image

  • Zef, that's the only 63 FB I have. I don't collect football but I was at a show 2 weeks ago and a guy had a ton of BEAUTIFUL football cards. They were(I think) 65 Philadelphia, 63 Topps and 65 Topps. Stown, I don't know how to resize and all that! I need a tutor session. In fact, I'm off work for the next week and a half with foot surgery so now would be a great time. I've been trying for the longest to figure out how to get those close-up scans other people get. I have an all-in-one HP Officejet 6310. It says it goes up to 4800x2400 dpi I'm pretty sure. I'm not a computer idiot but I don't have much experience with scanners. Help is very much appreciated!

Okay, I'm experimenting with some type of Adobe photo software. See how this looks compared to my last "long distance" scan.image
