Mastronet, Memory Lane and other Auction houses?

Hey guys, I was just wondering what you guys thought about the major auction houses. Whick are the best ones? Whats like the top 5 in order, #1 being the best and #5 being last. Anybody ever had experience either bidding or selling in any major auction house? The only 2 I have heard of is Mastronet and Memory Lane. Which is the best and why? I am trying to get some info so see whos the best and why and see what you guys thought. Thank you for your timeimage

  • Best in which way? It all depends if your buying or selling. Either way the commisions they charge the buyers and sellers would make some loansharks look like rookies. image

LOL, as a seller I guess. The huge comission aside(LOL), which is the best auction house to sell an item in? The best advertised? The best prices to get for your item? Stuff like that, any information really would be appreciated. Thanks againimage

You know whats funny, Ive wondered this thing for a long time as well. If a card is worth $100, and the hammer is 20%, the average buyer will bid it up to $82 or so, knowing that the price and the hammer are about $100, the most he will pay for that card

The problem is, if your selling that card, you see $82, and the house sees $18

Why then would anyone sell with an auction house and lose out on that $18? I know they have really cool shiny catalogs, they advertise in the SMR, 4SC gives me really cool coins with Memory Lane on them telling me Im a #1 buyer (which I mail to MAD image ). and I imagine they have a huge client list.

LOL, because if I put it on ebay I would get $5 for a $50 card! I guess I have no other choice but to go with an auction house but wanted to know whos the best? Are those 2 the only 2 major auction houses? Is there other decent houses or are those the only 2 worth going with? Thank you for your timeimage
  • I think ebay really sucks to list something up because first off, your gona get almost nothing for the card to beging with. Then you got your ebay listing and final fees. The most(97%) the times people will pay by paypal and then you got more fees there so by time you get the little bit thats left if wasen't even worth it. Now with an auction house sure they'll charge 10% or 20% or whatever but they advertise I guess and handle all that stuff and the items always sell for 5 times more than ebay ever would. Anyway now anything about these auction houses? Anybody ever sold or purchased anything from any of the houses or have any kind of info on them? Thanks againimage
  • I have bid with Memory Lane, Mastro and Huggins @ Scott. I have seen some great buys especially with Mastro and Huggins and Scott. Mile High was also good to work with. Navigating the lots is interesting though, too many subheadings for my taste.
