Good luck Ted! I did very well listing some of my baseball recently, that '55 Spahn ended up selling for $475! Lots of action on the last day of the auction.

Thank You! Like I said I bought it for $339 and really just wanted my $$$ back, I put that as a reserve price and luckily for me someone put a $350 bid on it day one! Sorry we couldnt have made a deal, I would have been just as happy selling it to a boardmember like your self. Hopefully you will come across one cheaper, thanks again!

Just out of curiousity: I've wondered this for a long time and now that I can ask a fellow board member, I'm hoping I'll get an honest answer. If you need to move these sets, why not start the bidding at your reserve? I know a lot of people, myself included, don't even bother bidding on a reserve auction. Seems to me if you have a price under which you won't let the set go, why put yourself and everybody else through an exercise to see if someone will offer that number (which is known only to you)?

  • i would hope image that the biding would get a few people excited enough to try and win for more than just their initial bid. Scrolling through auctions and seeing an auction with a ton of bids has to be more appealing than just having one bid. Why wouldn't you bid on a reserve auction? In the end I will probably sell to the highest bidder if it is close to my reserve. I am just too nervous to let these cards fly and get about half of what I paid for them, at that price I would keep them. I would think people get caught up in the frenzy of the bidding and figure another few hundred dollers to win nice item other people want is ok, but staring at 1200-1500 auction with NO bids has less appeal. Maybe it is my own naive thinking..the lots are not even half their reserve
