My first ever MJ rookie just arrived....

Never owned one before, as I am mostly a vintage baseball and hockey guy. Bottom right corner is better than it appears in the scan. Seems fairly graded, but am not too familiar with how anybody grades these (i.e. how much white can show and still pull a 9). What do you think (yes, there is an ugly scratch on the holder)?

  • I think that is a generous 92. But I am glad for you just the same. I think it might cross to a 7 maybe sqeak and 8. I have had maybe a half dozen or so graded in the last couple years. I did get one 9 but split the rest in 8s and 7s. It probably one of my most favorite cards of all time. Good Luck.

I would cross to PSA. I personally would rather have a PSA 8 just because I hate half grades. I think it is a lock 8.

Nice card - certainly at a Babe Ruth of basketball level. Wish I had one!

Man, I wish you had not posted those two cards. I have not had them since I was about 12 years old. I've wanted them back ever since. Makes me want them, bad!

I have a PSA 8 that is not as nice as that so I say it is a lock for an 8 with maybe a 1% chance of 9. The sticker is nice, but OC like most.

Thanks Allen. I see a fair amount of white tips on PSA 9 cards currently for sale on ebay, but this card doesn't strike me as mint. 8 and a half is about right.

I guess the sticker is OC, but with the name on the left it looks balanced out. Stickers were a real nice design IMHO.

I am missing the Jordan (have an 8) and the checklist for a complete PSA 9 set. I would have pulled the trigger on this card and hoped for a 9 via crossover.

Centering and surface look 9 worthy on the scan. The corners look like they could pull a 9 -the bottom right corner could be the only thing keeping it out of a 9 holder. I have a few that have similar corners and edges that are 9's. What do the corners and the overall back look like?

ArnyVee - PSA 8 Jordan rookies trade in the $500 - $600 range.

Nice Jordan Mike. I dont think it will make a 9, and I totally agree with you that 8.5 is the right grade. If you want a PSA slab for this card, I think it would have to be a PSA 8, but I hope I am wrong. Once again, very nice looking card.
