What's a Dover Reprint?

Stupid question, but I'm just learning here.

On replicas of vintage cards, if it says on the back it's a Dover Reprint does that mean it's worthless? Or just something nice to look at?

    I've taken some (really bad pictures) but I don't know how to post them.

    I can describe them though. They have serrated edges, like they were separated from a larger sheet. The back has all the original text of the old, say tobacco cards, but "Dover Reprint" is on each of them.

    Also, while I'm on the subject, I got a case of old cigarettes that supposedly have cards in them. Am I better off ripping them or selling them as is?

    You may be better not breaking the cigs open. I would wait to see if a pre-war collector comes on with a little help on those. Im not sure of anything earlier than 1933. I collect 33-81 Cards and not T206 or tobacco cards. I will look around and see what I can find about Dover Reprints and if I find anything I will get back to you. Can you turn your PM on.     Dover reprints came in a magazine type booklet put out by Dover press. Basically they are reprints of famous cards. I have a few of the magazines, but I would have to dig deep in my storage locker to find them. They are nice, but clearly reprints and marked as such.

    That must be a older one. The one I have (1983?) has a wagner and 52 mantle in it.
