Negative feedback virgin no more....

Been buying and selling items - mostly cards - on ebay for about 5 years now, have 755 feedback, all of it positive, until today. I bought a lot of mixed sports vintage cards, described as "hard to find in this condition", etc....picture was deceiving, it was a clear picture but cards were laid on top of other cards, etc...a few red flags but I still bid and won. Cards came (in a plain white envelope - I paid $4.60 for shipping) and they are all beat up. Three of the cards are obviously trimmed, the others had wax stains and creases that were never mentioned. I look back at the picture and notice that where there was a crease or where the card was trimmed, that area was conveniently covered by another card. Although the cards were only a little over $40.00 I send the guy an email explaining the trimmed cards and the problems, etc. and ask for a refund. He not only says no but literally calls me an idiot in the response. I sent a calm email back, and agin he sent me an expletive filled response. So I negative'd him, only the second time I ever did that, and of course he negative'd me back. I did add a response to his negative stating words to the effect that he sold me trimmed cards and I dared to ask for a refund....that should sound legit to the real card buyers. I feel a little weird getting the first negative out of the way...it is almost liberating...I think I need a cigarette now!!! So my feedback drops to 99.9%, I can live with that....

there is no question that retalitory feedback is a major flaw in the ebay system. You did everything right, yet walk away with a surface blimish.... image

  • Good day,
Just shy of 1200 Feedbacks at %100 positive. I have been Neg'd twice by clowns but used my Neg and eventually got both mutually withdrawn. I know that some As*&%Wipe will get me eventually but Iitstill feels good to be at %100 Positive I don't care what anybody says !!!!

Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
  • Nothing wrong with taking one for the team. I've absorbed half a dozen retaliatory strikes over the years. You gotta do it or these sellers will continue selling the same garbage. I recall leaving a neg after winning an 89 UD Griffey card stated MINT. I get the card and it had a crease. The relataliatory came stating "Not a reasonable person to deal with....I dont know what he expected". I guess asking for a refund for an item not as advertised is unreasonable. Sometimes buying a slabbed card is the way to go as a PSA 9 Griffey doesn't sell for much more than a raw copy... and sometimes less!

  • First one sucks but if you deal enough on ebay it's inevitable, there are some idiots out there and eventually you'll get one.

I still don't understand why people who sell on Ebay don't set up a separate account for buying, then they'd never have to sweat a situation like this.

His description I guess was somewhat accurate "Hard to find in this condition"

You need a separate email and Paypal account, but otherwise you can have the same info. My buying account is not verified (linked to my bank account), so all my purchases are made on my cc.
