would you sell this Gai 7 '52 mantle and Ruth togethe?

Comments

  • I was thinking of putting the 2 on EBAY together as one lot. Do you think it would be better to sell them apart? Suggestions will be appreciated.

  • Sell separately. My opinion, for whatever that's worth, is that the 2 items aren't related enough to have them sold as one lot. Sure, it's the Yankees, 2 of the more storied guys from the team, but it's a ball and a card. I would think that you'd want to sell separately, but find a way to market them together.

  • Thanks Arch.
The Ruth ball has a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA. Cert. # is E54179. Now be nice. I thought since half of the lot WAS PSA that it was okay to post. I could be wrong.

You can post what you want. None of it has to be PSA. But, just remember that most here are biased towards PSA. Me personally, I only know PSA. I agree that they should be sold separately. Most people would be looking for one or the other, not both.

Separate. You should have already sold that Mantle. The card is fine, but it seems like GAI's rep worsens by the month. Keep the ball.

I would never consider selling those items as a lot, and I would cross the Mantle to PSA or SGC and hope for the best.

    Nice items!

I believe he signed with the quotes early on, then stopped
  • Seperately. And cross that Mantle into a PSA...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

    1) sell both separate
    2) get the mantle crossed over to PSA
    3) Who else is on the ball?
    4) insure them as I would hold on to them till spring training for the best prices (more interested in football now)
    5) consider yourself luck to have both these items at one time!

  • Jamesgotpoorman;
The ball is signed TWICE by Babe Ruth. It was first signed in 1928 while he was making the movie "Speedy" with Harold Lloyd. Buster Keaton also signed the ball. The ball stayed in the Hollywood area for two years. Harry Conn, the president of Columbia pictures signed it as well as his wife Mildred Davis, who was also in the film, and Walter Hiers. Ruth's best friend Bob Meusel, also a Yankee, Lefty Thomas, and a few other players also signed the ball. The most famous signatures are of course the Keaton and Ruth. The ball got back to Ruth on Oct. 27, 1930 when he signed the ball for the second time and dated it. Ruth was in the movie "speedy" for five minutes. Lloyd picked Ruth up in a cab and took him to Yankee Stadium and stayed for the game. It is one of the last silent films. What attracts me to the ball is that Hollywood and Baseball are teamed up with two of the biggest mega stars of the time in Ruth and Keaton. The ball is authenticated by PSA/DNA and Jimmy Spence.
I can only imagine who else touched this ball while it was making the rounds in Hollywood. It is truly a ONE OF A KIND signed ball. Hope i didn't ramble too much, but I think it is an incredible Ruth artifact. In all, it has 24 autographs.
