Newby needs grading advice

Hello all. I am new back to the hobby after an abscence for years. The grading is all pretty new to me. I read the PSA grading guidlines, but I still am having trouble figuring grades. I have a tough time telling the difference between some 7 and 8's, 8's and 9's...etc. Is there any advice anyone has for me.
I can judge the centering, edges, corners etc, but still can't figure why one card is a seven and another is an eight when they look so similiar to me. Thanks.

Tim

Good to see I'am not the only one. Grading is subjective and can vary from person to person. I have found using a loupe helps with older cards. With the moderns I have a hard time telling the difference between a 9 and 10.
  • It is with the moderns I have a real problem, good advice on the loupe, may give that a shot.

So do some of the graders.

The only advice I have is to look at cards already slabbed as a PSA 7, 8, 9 and try and pick up the the reason for the grade.
