I find it somewhat interesting, people can bad mouth others, PSA, SCG but when an honest question is asked it goes poof. I asked this AM about what new computer system I should buy, but that thread has now gone poofimage

    No matter how much I enjoy this forum, sometimes there appears to be a class system in which only certain questions/posts are taken seriously. I read your thread, but honestly don't have much input. The guy/girl at Circuit City would be much more knowledgeable about this kind of things. Different processors are made for different activities; however, almost any new machine you can purchase from a reputable manufacturer will be a decent machine. Basically, if you have to ask this question, I'd go with an inexpensive, yet upgradeable machine from Dell, Compaq, IMB, etc. RAM and processing speed are going to be your most important hardware, then of course, however much hard drive space you want. A new machine comes standard these days with CD/DVD readers/burners, tons of USB 2 ports, and typically decent software. If you want amazing graphics, operating system overhauls, design capabilities, you're talking about specialized processors and something other than Windows driven machines. I doubt you want that.

    There was also a thread on here about a golf club on eBay just a couple of hours ago, and it went poof? Don't know why??? No bad mouthing or anything - the auction description was hilarious!

    For those who were not here before the Open Forum was shut down - those kinds of topics and others, were discussed there.

    I think the mods are tryin to enforce the rule that OT or OF type topics not be discussed here.

    Tho it may feel like a freedom of speech curtailment, we are really guests of CU.

    They were allowing a bit of it a while back - but from what I can see, it was getting out of hand and the board was being cluttered with that kind of stuff.

    In a way - I miss the "personal" questions - I got to know people better - but the mods have the final word I guess.

    Give it some time - things may loosen up again. image
