MtG - #1 summer & unlimited set... Value???

I am kidding in the title but yes ... I don t like much the summer set because there is no power cards ... But the set is so rare that when i saw a rare grade (PSA 10) on a rare set i couldn t resist to buy some ... I spent arround 1200 USD in the summer :-)
Got lot of the best common and a very nice unco (control magic).
It s strange but for summer collector it look like the grade doesn t count much ...
a PSA 9 or 10 will not sell much more than a non graded card so raw as near mint .
It look like the high bider on summer almost never bid on high graded card on the A/B/U .
I feel realy different from them and the way they value cards.
When i see they buy a raw nm cards for 30-50 USD and they bid on a PSA 10 version of the same card 30-50 USD i don t get it
got 90% of the psa 10 common for 40-41 USD.
In the summer world, it s PSA collector s paradise.
Well i am not into the summer collecting but i had to grab some of those gem for cheap (in case i will be in summer collecting later
)
I am very far from having the best summer set in the world (i saw some of the summer collector spending 30-50 k in the last 4-5 years just in summer) but i asked to PSA to list the summer set in the non sport ...
Maby some of those summer collector will grade there raw cards and display them on the registry. It could be entertaining.
I recieved the Auto of Asimov ... it s a card of 3-4 times biger than mtg psa cards and it s beautiful

Summer Magic is a VERY specialized niche of the MtG collectors universe. Virtually all of the value of the cards comes from rarity - PSA 8 vs PSA 10 vs raw will have no real impact on value. With other more "mass produced" products PSA helps to pick out the nicest examples for safekeeping and display, while at the same time adding a level of rarity that wouldn't be there otherwise. For example, there were roughly 1100 Alpha Black Lotus cards made - currently 4 are graded Gem 10 (I believe). By comparison, most knowledgeable sources estimate there are only 6-10 copies of each Summer rare.... period. With so few total, there really is little need to worry about which is PSA 9 vs PSA 10. Not to mention that of the thousands of MtG collectors out there only a few are into PSA stuff; by the same token with only a few collectors of Summer the odds that even 2-3 of them are big PSA guys is slim, which also kills price premiums.
Which means you might be the first - we all expect a fully complete Gem 10 set posted up soon, so you best get spending
