Unfreakinbelievable! Awesome. I'm a UCLA fan, but you have to love upsets. I wish I could have seen the faces of those 105,000 Michigan fans! Congrats!

  • UN-BEE-LEAVE-ABLE!!!!! I guess Michigan doesn't have to concern themselves with contending for a national championship this year. image

    Dear SoonerCowboy,

How true. But if you're a Yankee Fan and/or work for ESPN, you'll say, well if USC loses and LSU loses and this happens and that happens, then Michigan will right back in the mix of things and it's better to lose early than to lose late and yadda yadda yadda. Again, congrats to ASU!

As a Georgia Southern University Alumni, I must say congrats to App State, despite our checkered history with one another. On my way to Cincinnati on I-75 yesterday, I saw tons of App. State decorated vehicles. GSU has had several "almosts" against UGA, but never pulled it off. Congrats to those in Boone.

  • another Big Ten embarrassment. When will they dump Carr? He has to be the worst coach in the NCAA.

I agree, other than a few Big 12 powerhouses, mid-west football isn't enjoyable. Their refs stink too. MHO image)

  • I just saw Lloyd Carr being interviewed and he made the point that the game was very close and that a re-match would probably be required.

    BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Appalachian dropped a touchdown and had a turnover review that went against them deep in Michigan territory. I will admit the we caught Michigan at the right time, but the game could've been over before that last drive....

    GOOOOO APPPPPALAAAAAAAAAAACHIAN!!!!!!!!

I would argue that Appy State didnt beat the #5 team in the country. Michigan would be ranked if the top 22 posters on this message board suited up. This loss really hurts Ohio State and Michigan State more than Michigan. Now in a national championship argument, they cant include a "win" against powerhouse Michigan like they always do... Big Ten as always overated
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • Not a Michigan fan, but this event was a complete fluke. Occurs once per century.

Got to admit, I was pulling hard for the underdog. Great win for Appy State.

I don't think it is as much of a fluke as some people might like to think. If I were a young man in North Carolina and I wanted to play football in-state, I'd go to Boone over any school in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill triangle. I'd guess that a lot of the state of NC's talent chooses the same route. I graduated from App State's in-conference rival Georgia Southern University, and over the last decade, while playing schools like UGA, our 1-A opponents were forced to keep their starters in, no matter how much they hated the idea. While GSU has never beaten a 1-A opponent in a time I can recollect, it has never been a slaughter, nor a shutout. The difference between these schools, on many levels, comes down to a few scholarships, and nothing more. On top of the fact, many AA schools are running offenses rarely seen in top-tier football anymore; AA teams can be competitive, and they are in sports like baseball and basketball, where they get to spread their wings against top-tier schools more often.

It's tough to say the Big 12 is even in the Mid West, especially your powerhouses (Oklahoma and Texas).

  • They're selling jerseys commemorating Appalachian State's victory over U of M here in Lansing (MSU Spartan country).

Walked into Meijer tonight and saw they had three. The backs on each say something along the lines of "Slaughter in the Big House - 34-32"

Well the "fluke" just happened again this past weekend with an Oregon team that spreads out their offense the same as the Apps. I thought Michigan was at least a top 10 team at the beginning if you looked at their line up. #5 was a little ambitious. I'm waiting to see if the fate is the same for USC. Their defense was pathetic. They had more holes than the Titanic. As "fluffy" as i am, i could have run through a couple of those holes myself.
