NEED HELP! IS this case cracked?

Im currently high bidder on a Mantle Rookie and need to know if it looks like this case is busted to you all? I wrote the seller and he can not send another scan due to his work schedule etc. Im just a little nervous about the crack. He told me that it was not cracked and that if it was cracked during shipment PSA could replace it for 25 dollars. Now Im concerned...............

Cracked, hard to say. Frosted on the corners, yes. Though I have seen that on some PSA cards, not sure if it is something that happens in the encapsulation process??

On that particular card, I'd pass on this one. Hope you're still not the high bidder. Something ain't right, and there are plenty of these to choose from out there.

I'm with Bob on this one. I'd say there's a better than even chance that the case has been opened, judging by the bottom two corners. Plus the scan, even the supersize, is small. Heed the red flags my friend.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Just talked to ebay rep, I have retracted on this card. The seller would not send a rescan either. He was quite rude actually. Im out of this one.................thank God!

Good question. I emailed him several times. He stated he was a contractor and I understand he is busy but with cards of this caliber you would think he would max his profit by providing the best scan available. I didn't want to retract bid but my gut feeling was that something was very wrong, especially when he told me that I could get it re-slabbed. It must be broke. The card could very well be a fake or one of a lower grade.............

What is up with the Bidders IDs is this a new way of hiding their IDs by Ebay??
  • I have cracked opened many PSA graded cards, some are very tight, some I opened up with my bare hands(finger-nails), with no damage. The tele-tale sign is usaully the frosting left behind(not just the corners). The card doesn't appear to be recased, but does appear to have been dropped on one corner(slight crack) and mishandled on the other. However the seller's failure to resupply a bidder with a new scan is good enough for me to spend my money else where. It's not a one of one, many more available out there. image

Selling a card of this magnitude + "not enough time to send a better scan" = stay away
Yeah, I uploaded that KC icon in 2001

Rob, the guy is selling a mantle rookie and can't find the time to send you a better scan? He recently sold this truck for $35,000, why can't he spend the time or whatever to get you some clear pics?

Doesn't seem right, just be careful (here and over there too!)

Anyone that is selling a higher priced item that is legit would do the best job to provide a high quality scan IMO, the guy has good feedback but I would be willing to bet he got this card and questions its authenticity and doesnt want to deal with it. Smart move on your part for getting out.

Thanks guys and thanks Jim for your comment! I just didn't feel right about dropping 2k for this card. I still think its a fake or replaced. I will be watching to see what the feedback score comes out to be. I just hope the other bidders clue in on this........rob
