The coming storm of 2009.

According to a seasoned economist that I know, the next economic storm - i.e. recession - will be in 2009. Ignore the subprime stuff shaking out the real estate markets now.....that is just an appetizer for the next biggie, which will occur after the next presidential election. And it will be a severe one, much worse than 2000-01.
This will create good buying opportunities in the collectibles market, particularly people unloading their collections to generate cash.

Most "mainstream" economists seem to miss everything..the tech bubble, the accounting scandal, the real estate mess.
Still, I think there is going to be alot more pain in the next 12, 24, 36 months. I dont think you clean out a housing bubble in 6 months.
The impact on the card world?
The super high end will probably remain unaffected (the world of $20k PSA 9 Goudey commons).
The medium end might go down some. I'm saving cash for maybe a little dip in 70's, early 80's material.
The low end can go alot lower. I just bought a box of 86 Fleer baseball cello, I dont expect that to double or triple any time soon!
Or, as Dylan once wrote (and Hendrix made famous) "...three riders were approaching and wind...began to howl..."
