Looking to spend $3000 on a babe ruth.. But I do not know much about vintage

Hey guys I was looking to put about $3000 into a babe ruth card.
I know very little about vintage...
What do you think would be my best bet?
#1 factor is future appreciation...
Thanks for your time.

I would guess it will grade a PSA 2-PSA 4 and I am sure it falls in the 2K-3300 range in that grade.
If you are interested just PM me here at PSA message board!
it is a beautiful card for the money- The card books for 5000.00 ungraded!
I am hoping for a PSA 3 or 4 and almost certain it will get there!
I am 100% they are all authentic but I wanted to make sure they had not been trimmed. I can spot the fakes but the trimming for me is the tricky part. I sent them into PSA Saturday morning overnight for Super Express level so I will know how I did on TUesday or Wed.
I believe 100% they all are authentic and about 80% they are unaltered but I am just not a professional when it comes to miniscule trimming but the cards showed enough wear on edges and corners I am pretty confident they are unaltered. The cards measured out fine but if some idiot over the past 70 years decided to even hack any part of any card they drop a ton in value. I hope they are all unaltered!
He has some other nice stuff so if these come back trimmed I can get some 52 mays, 53 mantles, etc.
Your right about not buying them graded for a seller and that is why mine are at PSA getting graded.
All cards graded where at one time ungraded. This person I bought these from has 100,000 of cards and if they are not legit I will get my money back(he lives about 5 minutes from my house on 10 acres). He is a collector and just wanted some vintage stuff I had and he already called wanting to buy them back if I ever sell them.(He has no idea I already have them off to PSA).
It never crossed my mind to try and sell these for anything near market value until they were graded by PSA. If I had some them raw I would have lost a ton of money due to all the fake stuff out there. However, I am very confident come Tuesday or Wed I will have some very nice vintage itens in the PSA 2-PSA 4 range.
<< <i>I disagree. I run into people frequently who don't even know what a "graded" card is. >>
Yet they have 1000's of dollars in UNGRADED cards? They never heard of Mr. Mint, or a T206 honus wagner selling for a million dollars? I think you are deluding yourselves. ONCE in a great while someone has a find or an old collection is found, but it is getting more and more scare as time goes on. I digress...I think the Green Ruth is the best looking ard out of all of them, the US caramel definately the rarest, I would take a nice green Ruth!
<< <i>Then again there are tons of collectors still out there who would NEVER get a card graded nor do they want one graded.[/q
Very true.
I will determine how "good" or "bad" my own card is.

Sure, just make sure when you sell it to me, I can get it graded
another I know of is a friend of our family was the bat boy for the 54' Senators (the year they had the all star game in d.c., maybe 54'?). I have not seen the collection in years but he started in the 50's as a kid and never stopped collecting. he has a very impressive collection. nothing is graded or authenticated.
-32 US Caramel
-33 Goudey
-Several different 20's B&W issues
20's Babe Ruth cards
Any opinions on which cards have the highest upside?

I think you will find out tuesday or wed. that I was right and there are UNGRADED RUTH and GEHRIGS at great prices.
We will see when the sub pops this week

Well of course...but they're not a collector interested in spending a lot of money on the hobby, or they're not anyone who has any baseball cards of significance.
<< <i>i have to say i truly believe there are more raw out there than people think. i myself know a few older collectors who no longer buy but still have cards they have owned for 35 or more years that don't even know how to use a computer and do not grade cards for the simple fact they will not pay someone to tell them what condition there cards are in....I mean are we to think EVERY legit babe ruth card is already graded and another will never be submitted.. I think not. its just not realistic thinking. >>
But their children know the value, or their estate appraisers will know the value. And nobody said there might not be a number of raw genuine Ruths out there...the premise is will these cards sell at a bargain? The answer is "No" these cards will not sell at some bargain price - they will be graded before sale.
I think I can sell the goudey Ruth for 2500.00 or so ONCE it is in a PSA 2 or 3 holderr
It has GREAT EYE APPEAL! I almost certain that I will prove you can bu yUNGRADED goudeys from a collector and make some money.
Is it possible I am worng? of course it is!
<< <i>yes they will be graded for resale just like I am doing! I did steal these cards for a few bucks I paid the guy around 3000K for some stuff which was a bargain in my eyes.

Well almost anything is possible, but here's the basic risk with just some elementary math...buy 5 raw Ruths for say a "bargain" price of $1,000 each - 2 are legit worth $2,000 each for a total of $4,000 but of course you've spent $5,000.....you get the idea...and I know you realize the idea. Unfortunately too many people out there get badly scammed thinking they're going to find bargains out there....an extreme longshot at best. Sometimes even collectors who think they're "knowledgeable" get burnt this way.
This stuff isn't found until someone passes on usually , then if the persons family isn't into card collecting or memorabilia collecting , you find them in the garbage .
Could you imagine finding a ton of old baseball cards in the trash ?
I Always have my eye out for stuff thrown away , One time I found a box of baseball cards in the trash , but the cards were from the 70's - 80's , Not the 30's . . . but I'm sure it has had to happen at one time or another .
Damn , lemme stop , I think i just had a brain orgasm !
