Ebay descriptions question

A while back, I had some auctions ended by Ebay because I mentioned other specific auction at the end of my descriptions. They said that that was against the rules. I do know that you can link, by way of a special insert, a link to your other auctions, you just can't mention specific auctions.

I will be listing a complete set run from 1970 to 1993 in the next couple of weeks. I was wondering if I can generically mention something like - "please take a look at my other auctions. I have a complete set run from 1970 to 1993 up for auctions this week." Can I say that or do I have to say something like - "...I have many sets from the 70's through the 90's". Or, do I have to just say "please look at my other auctions."

  • Should not be a problem just mentioning other items on Ebay. If you had a listing removed for that they made a mistake. Now if it was a link to an off Ebay listing then that is illegal, but not links to other Ebay items you are selling.

I did not even link them. All I said was, "Please check out my other Ebay auctions. I have a 1984 Donruss Don Mattingly PSA 10 up for auction this week." That's all I said, and my auction got removed and I had to relist. For some reason, I just happen to remember the exact auction that I was promoting. I guess because it ended up going for $850. image

Anyway, that is all I said, and my auction (not the Mattingly, but the auction that I mentioned the Mattingly in) got the boot.

  • Could be because you mentioned Mattingly, that could be viewed as Key Word Spamming and will get your listings pulled.
  • if i have multiple auctions i always include a link, and i mention what the auction is. never had a problem

I've had an auction pulled for mentioning another auction I had running at the same time. My guess would be because if someone checked the "Search Titles and Descriptions" and did a search, they would come up with auctions that listed items they were not looking for because of a name you have listed in the description. If the name or word you have listed has nothing to do with the auction that is being displayed, it is keyword spam in Ebays eyes.

I use the free auction helper, Auctiva, and that list and shows my other auctions for free within each auction. It has a display bar that scrolls through my auctions with the time left, current price and picture. And if you click on a picture it takes you to that auction. Does the same thing you want to do without causing a problem with Ebay and tight a$$ surfers.
    Looking for Carl Willey items.

I love how ebay pulls auctions for mentioning anothe one of their auctions, but allow the countelss PSA=BGS=SGC=GAI=PRO=KSA=SCD nonsense to go on repeatedly.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
