Today's frustration...NO PULLS FROM ALLEN AND GINTER!!!! What's goin on Topps?! UPDATE FROM TOPPS!!!

So today was going well until I got home with my A and G boxes. Spent some cash on these with the promise of two pulls. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!!!!! Not one relic, auto, or printing plate in either box. Called the store and they said that it's been a big problem. They've had 15 boxes with nothing in them. I'm calling Topps Monday morning. They've gotta do something.
AGHHHHHH!!!!!

That does stink though. I hope they give you some type of compensation

Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy when you hear about the people opening a case of A&G this year and getting 2 AUTOS per box in the entire case. Has to go the other way as well if that is happening and that's just bad, bad, bad on Topps' part.

Same experience with my box. All I can think in my head is that I could've bought a box of something fun like 1982 Topps or something, where even if I don't pull the Ripken, I could still get good money for commons, stars and semis if they are gradeable.

Every year I blow at least $200-$400 on new product because I think things will change, yet they never do.

This is all the more reason I stay out of 2000s stuff (except regular Topps sets). image

So these were hobby boxes? I've opened some 1 hit boxes, but then again I've opened some 3 hit boxes, I have never heard
of no hit boxes. If topps doesn't hook you up I can...just let me know.

kevin- yeah, this was a hobby box at $120 from my local shop. I posted these results on the 2007 A&G thread. Best card was a Carl Crawford bat card. No black mini no#, no rip card, no auto, no Bazooka back, not even a Dice K. Has to rank up there with the worst boxes of these ever.

So you did pull a relic? Hobby boxes are to have 2 hits in them, could be two relics or one auto and one relic.

Maybe you used all your mojo on those amazing bowman heritage boxes! I opened up maybe a case of those and didn't
get near what you did. Somtimes your on, sometimes you aren't....of course its different when you are paying 120 versus
    65. LMK if you need anything

kevin- I think you're mixing me up with someone else. Didn't open any Bowman Heritage.

If you consider any relic a "hit", then I pulled a Carl Crawford bat and Brian Roberts jersey. But when the box costs triple figures, I expect my hits to at least be worth more than $2 each.

Same here , I opened 4 Hobby Boxes, no rips , No autos , and in each box I pulled either 1 Bat or Jersey card , I don't really call those any kind of hit , not for 136.00 a box .

    I did way better on my SPX's , where I pulled a 1-1 Ripken @ $25 a pack , but in every pack I either got at least 1 auto .

Got a nice auto out of a tin of Sweet Spot Elroy Face # to 175 and a Johnny Mize Pants and a Roy Campanella pants , Then a Frank Robinson and a Kevin Mitchel # to 575.

So far I can't really say I am too happy with the A/G's

I do have enough Perez to sink a Battleship though !

I had to laugh though when my son told me , Topps is crappin all over us .

Where the heck do they come up with this stuff @ such a young age ?
  • I heard back today from the shop where I bought the boxes. Luckily, I know these guys really well and here's what they told me to do. They called Topps and had it out with them on the phone so I wouldn't have to. They told me to take the insert from inside the hobby box that has the serial # on it, the box bottom, one of the pack wrappers, a copy of my sales receipt and a note from the shop; and mail it to them stating I recieved no hits from these two boxes. Along with a letter stating what I have already. They said they would try to compensate me with things that I do not have already.
So, that's what's going on and at least they are willing to admit they made a mistake. Thought I would update. And yes, I thought that my luck had run out after the Heritage pulls, but I happend to pull a Dice K Double G/U from a UD Elements box. I was told it is his first G/U card. So, I don't feel too unlucky. Not so much luck with the 07 Bowman Chrome though.
  • I tell people to buy Allen & Ginter for the base set... or for the mini subsets... and I tell them "don't buy a box if you're looking for some big hit to recover the cost of the box." Those sweet box breaks on the Beckett forums where they pull a Chen Ming Wang auto or Bruce Lee GI are awesome, but they're also the minority--the people that get Scott Rolen's jersey and Miguel Cabrera's bat in their box aren't as likely to post.

If you're going to spend $120 and want better odds at a hit... it's better to buy that crazy ass Sweet Spot or Triple Threads stuff.

Just ask the people on this forum who have 5x Scott Rolen, Miguel Cabrera, and Carl Crawford relics...

I've spent damn near $800 on A&G this year and the best "hit" I've had is a Mia Hamm relic. I'm not crying, because I collect the set itself. To me, A&G is all hits, because of its unique look and variety. It's a set-builder's set, for sure.

For that money, I could've just trotted to eBay and bought a Bruce Lee Relic, a Mantle bat relic, the relics containing the volleyball players' swimsuits, and a couple key autos, and called it a day. But what would be the fun in that? *grin*

Guru: Oops, I wrote thise before I saw your post right above.... Topps will indeed make good. In the end, they'll mail you back 4 GU or autos in a few weeks. They've done that for quite a number of people within the past few weeks. Just don't expect to see George Washington's hair show up...
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

  • Yeah...I agree. I'm not looking for big hits or anything. I didn't just pay that amount for the hits. Heck, if that's all I wanted I could have bought a lot more with that kind of cash. But, I will say that if they are going to put the guarantee on the box, they should live up to it. And I know they will stand by their product. That's why I love Topps and could care less if UD just rotted away. Although I like the Dice K card I pulled.
I bought a ton of blaster boxes two weeks ago and had a major pull, but I know that's very rare. I like the design and the look the most. And I love the history cards and the flags and whatnot. I was just dissappointed that there weren't any hits period. And like I said, if you guarantee it, you should stand by it and they are.

I've already told you guys enough about my two 24-ct retails with NOTHING in them. NO relics, no nothing.

Best card was a Hideki Matsui mini no-#

  • This is my 2007 baseball recap so far.
1 box A&G .....junk .....at least the new pricing reflect this.
    3 boxes Artifacts....junk
1 box UD series 2.....more junk
1 box Topps Chrome ...and even more junk.....when you open the packs you really think your getting something but Beckett/Ebay pricing says your not.
1 box Topps series 2 ....Junk, but I actually had the most fun with this box.

I ask you do you think I'm going to be ripping any more 2007 baseball..... I think not...How do you say HYPE! I was going to purchase Bowman Chrome...NOT!
  • Yeah, take my advice and stay away from Bowman Chrome. One auto per box. I end up pulling a redemption.
  • TNTonPMSTNTonPMS Posts: 2,279 ✭✭
I must have opened about 10 boxes of Bowman chrome and any time I get anything decent I put em in the magic box . . . I had nothing good to put in the magic box out of the Bowman chrome .

I do like the cards though , but I have not pulled anything decent to speak about .

In the Topps Chrome I have had better luck, more Auto's at least , a couple of Red Border refractors and the other day I pulled a really nice Blue Border Mantle Refractor that my son and I got really excited about .

The artifacts we got crapped on , nothing at all , but that was football , I haven't been able to find any baseball at all .

In the Topps series two , I can't even begin to count how many boxes I have opened and really the only decent card I pulled was a Dice K Japanese Print with no signature on front .

    Pure crap . . .
