USPS question....

I sent an email to a seller about a card I won. I asked about the shipping status because I thought I would have had it by now. The seller mailed me a tracking # and when I pulled it up it shows that on Aug. 22 the card was in Windsor Locks, CT. and under status it says "missent". The card was mailed from Colorado. Does anyone know what happens now or what this means? Am I looking at long delays to get this card? Thanks in advance.

  • It will be sent to the address it was mailed to, usually adds a couple of days to its shipping time.
  • Had this just happen to me I sent a card Cincy Oh to Chicago, IL mailed on 7-30-07 missent on 08-05-07 Delivered on 08-20-07 took 2 weeks and it showed that the item was in Chicago on 08-05. Good luck and hope your card shows up which it probably will just in another 3 days to 3 weeks.

USPS is trying to better it's tracking system. Your parcel was probably read by an optic reader and sorted to the wrong state. As of a few months ago USPS is having clerks scan parcels as arrived when they get to the office so they can keep track of in office/delivered times.

Once it was scanned as missent it goes back to the General Mail Facility or distribution center and starts the journey as if it was originally mailed from there.

It's critical that the zip code is written clearly. I work in the 164XX and 165XX area and you wouldn't believe how many packages we get that are supposed to go to Texas (764xx and 765xx). The 1s look like 7s to the optical reader.

Like was already said, a few extra days to a few extra weeks. When it gets there, see how clearly the zip code is written, that's the #1 reason mail is missent.
