When Mark Murphy let a box worth of packs loose on ebay a few years ago they were fetching $300+ then eventually bottomed out in the $200-220 range once folks got their fill. $200 is probably about right IF you are confident they are legit...........
to me it wouldnt be worth anything...first of all this guy has very small feedback and has 5 of each of his packs for sale...another big red flag is he shows 2 pictures of graded packs but only raw opc...did they get sent back as resealed? who knows..i have around 6 of the 1971 opc packs graded and thats the only way i would buy this stuff...i just dont want to see anyone get burned...my advice dont bite or i think youll be sorry just my thoughts on this...as you can see he also says these are from another party so he really cant get blamed either way...also a short auction...i have been buying and selling vintage packs on ebay for 5 years now and these guys just come and go...just be carefull...terry ebay user id 1neatstuff
No sorry, I don't recall them being listed by the series. I only picked up one for my wax collection (after everyone got their fill of course lol) Not being a card collector I wouldn't know how to tell the series anyways.
Thanks for the info. I emailed the seller and he says series three but who knows. I know there is a gamble not only with the cards in the pack but also if the pack has been tampered with. I also don't like the fact he is selling them for someone else. If there is a problem he has deniablity. I think I am going to pass just wanted some other opinions to help with my descision.
This actually brings up a whole new valid point I'd like to make.
I don't care who you are, what you normally sell, how much your feedback is, how high your "STAR" is....
IF YOU PUT SOMETHING ON EBAY---YOU are RESPONSIBLE FOR IT! This passing the buck is bu$$$$$t
These clowns are a dime a dozen. If you put something up for sale on ebay, IT IS YOUR BABY, I don't care if you have some "MYSTERY" person you are supposed to be selling it for!
It just kills me when guys put stuff up for auction and say, "I am selling this for my friend who is in the hospital getting a tumor removed from his butt, so, I am not a sportscard person, but it looks pretty nice to me-probably MINT!"
Its like if you put up a counterfeit 1952 Topps Mantle on ebay, do you think you should not be responsible when someone pays $5,000 for it? That's outright fraud and you can go to prison for it!
Way overpriced. Authentic 71 OPC packs go for for about $135-$150 in mint condition anyway.
