Is this slab cracked?

I get my order back today and I noticed what appears to me to be a crack on the Gwynn rookie. I plan on Ebaying this--what do you think? Does that look like a crack?

Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

  • A butt crack but other than that I can't see anything. Although I do only own about 10 graded cards so I'm not very trained. Where is this supposed crack?
  • on the slab's edge, across from the top left corner.

I have this same issue with this PSA 9. The corners look untouched though. I posted this before and someone suggested this was an indication that the slab may have been smacked on the edge at one time. It would be really hard to crack and reseal these things without some sort of discoloration in at least one of the corners.

  • yeah, which is what concerns me. In all of my orders, this is the first time I've seen any marks on the slabs. Will PSA reholder it for free due to damage, or will they charge me a reholdering fee?

I sure wouldn't worry about it if I was bidding.

I just got back two large orders last week from PSA.
Out of 660 cards I would say about 1/4 of them had corner
cracks on the slabs. It wasn't caused by the shipping either.
So at least 160 of them were messed up.

I'm certainly not happy about it but I'm also not going to mail
them back to psa and hope to get them returned to me in a reasonable time frame.

Either the dude running the sealing machine is getting too aggressive or the machine is set up to put too much downward pressure on the slabs causing the cracks to appear.
  • I think most of us who have a ton of PSA cards have at least a handful that have these types of battle scars.

Upper right edge (looks like the bottom edge might've been banged around a little too)

  • I have had them reholder a card that was cracked and it only cost me the amount to ship it back. I called them the day I got it and gave them the sub #. Mine was an actual 1" crack in the case though.

I have a few of those "cracked" cases....never really thought much about it, or paid any attention to it really. It probably just got dropped on its edge or something.
  • Thanks for the input guys! Off to Ebay it goes!
