Why is the '06 Topps Alex Gordon RC such a big deal?

Was it short printed or something? If this is a regular print card selling for THAT much (there's a rack on eBay now with his card on the front for like $6,000), that's ridiculous.

Cliffs, please?

It was pulled early in the print run, so that Topps could obey MLB's new Rookie Card rule (only players who have made their major league debut could appear on "regular issue" cards).

So chances are that if you run across a box of '06 Topps, it's probably not even in there, huh?

  • For the most part the only boxes that got it were the first wave of Wal-mart blasters and Wal-Mart Rack Packs these were actually released about a week before the main release last year. Now the HTA boxes have had some of the cut out version of this card as well as the autograph card.

Have not looked to see what they are selling for now, but when they first started showing up on e bay the first ones went for well over $ 2 K, fueled by Keith Olbermann and later others buying on the speculation that as sets were built or later bought, many collectors might pay even more to "complete" the set
