Collectors Universe increases dividend

CLCT icreased its dividend from .12 - .25 a share. I realize that this is a buy, sell, & trade sports board but in reality that is exactly what this news is! Buy! A share of CLCT currently sells for a little over $14.

  • Buy this stock? I don't know. According to msn.com, its P/E is currently at 142. Its EPS numbers were better in FY 05 than 06, and 07 has not been good so far. It's also below its 10- and 50- day moving averages. Still, it could be a good growth stock at some point, and I certainly wouldn't short it. They are a great, innovative company and will never run out of cards/coins to grade.

I appreciate the fact that you look up the facts on the company. I mentioned the stock merely for its dividend...which is not a reason to buy. As you must know, companies increasing their dividend can be a sign of strength (PG, JNJ, XOM) or an enticement to get new money. CLCT has not been around long enough to show a consistent, if any, strength. However, I always find it amusing that we can put a lot of money into the hobby for a given card, etc., as opposed to purchasing long-term growth stocks. Also, with every purchase of grading services we enhance this site and the stock. It should be fun to watch the stock and see if anything comes of it.
