Ebay Fraud / Customer Service

Has anyone had this happen to them?

Ebay buyer with a new account (obviously bogus) purchases an item from my Ebay store. His registered address...

Registered address:
gbdfhgj fdhftgfjngh
gjmghk
fgnjghjkh
cjngkhjik 5534
Austria
(478) 47574756

Ebay customer service policy is to report the unpaid item after 7 days. Since I will not ship to Austria, I'm told to contact the buyer by email. I asked "what if the buyer purchased several or ALL of my store items?" and was told there was nothing that could be done but block the buyer (sure, after he nails me). I explained my concerns about fraud as an Ebay "customer" and the customer service represenatative not only raised his voice in defense but argued that ebay has the best security system. In essence, I was told that any jerk can open a new Ebay account with any real email account and as a seller, I could take it or leave it.

Anyone else deal with this?

Well, maybe if you left some high grade Cowboys for the rest of the collectors, people from Austria wouldn't get so pissed at you. I love the fact that he bought an $8 card. Way to mildly inconvenience you.

  • yeah, these Cowboys collectors are like rabid bears... maybe I should collect 49ers! lmao!

    Who??

  • You shouldn't use 'ebay' and 'customer service' in the same sentence.

Using 'ebay' and 'fraud', however, is acceptable.

    :-)

It's a shame that eBay/Paypal can't see how much more successful they COULD be if they actually acted like they cared about their customers, or attempted to do the right thing in situations, instead of choosing to damage trust further...

    kind of like "government organization"
  • Its an easy fix, you can block bidders from countries you do not ship to from even bidding on your auctions. I believe that if they slip through those blocks you can file a UPI right away under unwelcome bidder.
