A question about Mexican Pesos...........................

With regard to the 1945 2 Pesos coin, I have noticed some carry the "M" mark beneath the wreath while some dont. What is the significance of this (if any)? Is this a mint mark and would one be a restrike?
I have also noted the "M" on older (1800's) coins as well...................................

Mintages:
1919 - 1,670,000
1920 - 4,282,418
1944 - 10,000
1945 - 140,000 (not counting re-strikes)
1946 - 167,500
1947 - 25,000
1948 - 45,000
During 1951-1959, 725,000 pieces were re-struck dated 1945. Not sure what are the unique characteristics of the originals, perhaps someone else could help with that. By the way, I think there's a 1944 on eBay right now, if anyone is following this series.
Cheers!
