What packs did the Perez Great moments come in? Interested in the autograhed cards.

I thought the Great Moments were an offering from Perez Steele Galleries a number of years ago....similar to the hall of fame postcards they used to issue......

They were issued as complete, numbered sets. Any autographs you see were done personally by the postcard owners. Perez Steele's never came in packs.
  • Thanks. Do you know how many players are in this set?

Go to www.dickperez.com and you will find all the info you are looking for.
  • some of the greatest sports memorabilia produced in the past 20 years. damn good stuff! they were issued in series, not packs.
  • Thanks for the help. I have decided to try to get as many of these autographed cards as I can. Probally crazy, but I love the look of these cards. I won these on ebay today. A pretty good start.

There are 70 possible cards that could have been signed from this set. The first 60 or so are pretty easy, the last 5 or 6 tough, and the final 2 really, really hard. Ashburn is by far the hardest and typically goes for about 3K if you can find one. After that Campy is tough, but possible, and will run about $500 or so. Willie, Mickey and Duke is probably the most expensive at around 1K, other than Ashburn, of course.
Values on these are based more on how soon the player died after the card was issued rather than the stature of the player.
I just completed this set and would be happy to give more info if needed. They look really cool and for the most part are very available. Some players have really nice images, but in typical Dick Perez fashion some are very, very off. Koufax looks more like Drysdale, and a few others aren't even close.

The set was issued in 9 series, boxed up. They are numbered on the back to 5000.

  • I stuck with the psa cards because of the autographs. Are there a lot of fake auto's of these out there?

I'm sure there are, but I was pretty lucky on mine and never ran into a bad one- at least, never had one rejected as bad.
Mickey's had a good selection, and Dave Dame at Gallery of Full Steps is probably the biggest dealer in these, and everyone went thru fine. Dave was also very helpful with info on the set and relative scarcity. There was also a guy on ebay whose name I forget that I bought some from, with everything going well. He is in Yuma, Az.
Overall these are probably a bit less risky than auto'd balls, but I'd still do due dilligence on any before purchasing.

I was able to find full steps on ebay, but I can't find Mickey's. Are they on ebay or have a web site?

  • I just received my Perez Steele's today that I have pictured above in the thread. I had never seen these in person. I had no idea they were as big as they are. I thought they were only slightly bigger than a normal baseball card. Going to be hard to find space to show a collection of these.

They are one of the finest things to display. The artwork with the autographs is second to none! Im not a huge fan of the other P-S though they are nice....just that the Great Moments go far beyond the normal P-S postcards.
