ebay store owner's: how it is going?

What is seling, what is not, what are the fees like, how big of an inventory? I think I would run auctions to drive people to the store. I have a few partial graded sets I might put up. Player set type stuff, and random memorabilila items. Many are sayign buy in the summer sell in the winter.....???image

    Ted,

Weird stuff is selling well but sporadically - of course that is mostly what I have in my store.

Only difficulty is attracting potential bidders. As you say, run regular low $ auctions in order to "advertise" the items in your store and hopefully attract some traffic that way.

I've sold a few things. Just opened my store this month. The $16 / month fee sucks and the 10% final value fee blows but listing for a nickel or a dime is tough to beat. I now know why store prices are so much higher than regular auction prices.

I am going to be listing some HOF cards on ebay via normal auction to drive attention to my store. Hopefully that pans out. I'll probably do that this weekend. Crap...I can't, I leave for Tahoe next weekend... ok, well in two weeks, I'm going to do that. For sure. image

  • I'm in the process of building my inventory for my store. In my short experience with my store...

    a. I get many counter offers
    b. I'm getting more questions/messages than sales.

  • I am starting to add a bunch of cards to my store. I find it great for selling cards under 5.00. I usually list cards that probaly will not sell in a normal auction but are sought after. All items also get a Make Best Offer and usually I accept any reasonable offer. I would rather have the cash than the card just sitting there collecting dust.

I've done pretty well. Just over $2,500 in total sales since I started the store a couple months ago, and that isn't counting cards that I sold offline. My typical inventory is 30-50 cards, nothing major...The positives are mainly toward the high end stuff where I can list a card like a PSA 10 1975 Topps Cliff Harris RC for $2,700 BIN and it only costs $.11. Since this isn't a card I am particularly trying to sell, but rather just fielding offers its a nice way to get the word out.

For the cheaper stuff, its not that big of a plus, but its nice to have everything listed and ready and when the time comes to run some auctions you just transfer the items from store to auction.
