awful funny all the 52 topps rokies went staight from the packs to pennysavers and cardholder and to psa the same day, and i get bad grades on em-6 10s from 50 cards, that sucks, thanx psa, maybe ill send em back in like the mastro ruth ball that had 3 diff stories, pretty funny how guy that send in the big $ million dollar orders get the good grades,my rant is over, and if they dont like it, take it and stick it

  • I know where you're coming from, all the cards in my last sub went from pack to card saver and out of 49 cards had one 10 and the Murray rookie that came back with a new crease. Seems like they've been tougher on these June subs.

Was there ever a month when any of you said to yourselves, "Gee, PSA seems to be generous with higher grades lately!"

I'm not being venomous, I actually want to know. All of these threads about unfair grades are making me not want to submit anything.

yeah, but it sure isnt on this sub lol
  • thehallmark, every once in awhile they come back pretty decent. I had one back in March that wasn't bad.

people need to realize that straight from a pack does not = GEM MINT.

That you have qualified cards in your submission indicates that perhaps some additional quality control review by you would have led to a happier and less expensive submission.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

If you're getting 6's and 7's on 1975's, I agree with Marc, you need to be more diligent. Even the grader of death isn't so harsh.

i just sent them in for a goof-there a funny story behind those-i had a gai pack 1976 i got in a lot of stuff,, i busted it out of the graded slab, and what was in it?1975 topps cards!!!i figured id send em in and see what id get out of em,somebody pulled the old switaroo on gai and they didnt even notice, the wax wasnt even sealed on the pack!not the right # of cards in it either, the ones on the list there was all that was in the pack,im glad psa is grading pack now, gai pretty well sucks if their graders are no better than that!

I've had subs (as have we all) where almost every card was a grade lower than what we expected, so if this was one of those subs, it would've been great if graded according to standards. The 75s are a mess, but that's only 8 out of the 50 cards. If he got bumped on any two of the following cards it would've been a pretty good sub:

    29 04694791 1981 TOPPS 700 GEORGE BRETT N/A 9
    30 04694792 1981 TOPPS 700 GEORGE BRETT N/A 9
    31 04694793 1983 TOPPS 180 RICKEY HENDERSON N/A 9
    32 04694794 1983 TOPPS 360 NOLAN RYAN N/A 9
    33 04694795 1983 TOPPS 300 MIKE SCHMIDT N/A 9
    34 04694796 1979 TOPPS 330 GEORGE BRETT N/A 8
    36 04694798 1985 TOPPS 665 DON MATTINGLY N/A 9

There's at least one grader over there that refuses to give 10s to almost every card from '85 and earlier. It's possible that rube got that guy.

WOW, that story sure does not give you warm fuzzies about graded packs.. image

Every card is evaluated by at least TWO graders.

    C'mon, get it right, Lee!

Actually Meathook, I heard a group of 327 graders passes the card around and they each give a numerical grade, then the grades are tabulated and the mean score is what the card gets. They do this for every card, and it takes 45 minutes to grade one card. Then they sprinkle magical fairy dust on the card to protect it for the rest of it's existence and the slab is sealed using a rare plastic from Jupiter called Jupitanium that is the hardest substance known to mankind. Then each slab is individually wrapped in silk and........ Well, you get the picture.
