Should I submit it?

I've never sent anything into PSA DNA before, but I have a piece of paper signed by Joe Dimaggio that I got from my Grandmother when she passed away (she was a HUGE baseball fan) - along with some KC Royals memorabilia (she lived in KC). Anyways, I thought it'd be cool to have this little slip of paper slabbed, but I realized that it's going to cost me at least $100 to have it done. Any thoughts? With my current luck I'd get it back with "Evidence of Trimming".
Thanks guys,
Jeff

    Jeff,

If I were you, I would submit even if I was 100% sure it was real and even if I ever had no intention of selling it. I would submit it solely for the purpose of having it slabbed and thus well-protected. If ever the time comes when you or your next of kin needs to sell it, there will be no question of it's authenticity.

Good luck, and post a scan sometime, it sounds pretty cool.

  • Or, you could do this with it and then have it authenticated...

I'm on the road away from my scanner at the moment, but I would love to scan it in for you all. I'll be sure to get back to that. And, I'm definitely leaning towards getting it slabbed. It would certainly be a full little item to have around in those PSA/DNA slabs. Thank you guys for your input.

you could put it on ebay and pay $8 for a quick opinion and remove the listing once you get the quick opinion. that way you aren't wasting $75 and would only be out $8. if it's likely genuine and you send it to psa/dna you get the $8 back as a credit towards the $75.

also, if it's a small piece of paper you may want to attach it to an index card so it looks nicer in the holder

It's not worth $100 today, even if authenticated. Keep it as a beloved keepssake.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
