Now the waiting begins
New ebayer, wins my auction, emails me 3x during auction, bids 15 times on auction, does he pay right away? of course not. now the waiting begins.
I hope it was not someone messing with me.
what do you guys think?
Steve
Good for you.

what did you think about the buyer?
Steve
what do u mean give the guy a break? i have not done anything towards him. I just found it funny that he emailed me 3x regarding the auction, bid 15 times on it and when he wins i don't hear from him.
as for what it would have sold for you have no idea what it would have as some buyers may have been put off by seeing all his bids or can you see into the future?
fwiw when i won the card i paid instantly.
anyone know how to copy and paste with a mac?

As for the guy- is he new to ebay or is this just a new id for him? It's possible he doesn't have a paypal account set up, or maybe he wants to pay via mail. Or maybe he's a deadbeat. Who knows? I don't think he's screwing with you, otherwise he would've just made one big bid to win the auction. Why go through the trouble of bidding that many times (not that it makes sense to begin with)? What sorts of questions did he ask you?
The mac is not hard to use, but it aint easy either. I guess I'll get used to it.
he asked for a scan of the back, could he pick it up in person, i told him no to both as i was in between computers while the auctions were running. third question was would i combine shipping. maybe he intends to bid on some others i have going off tomorrow.
who knows. I wish that one of my regs won it.
if he turns out to be a dead beat i'll just relist it.
Steve
edited to add: the last one sold for 462.00 so I'm sure some people got turned off seeing him bid like that or once it got to a certain level they dropped out. 15 were watching it.

didn't yours go for $510 - so you got more than the last 65' mick psa 7.
<< <i>Give the guy a break, it's only been a few hours. Besides, if he doesn't bid, your card only sells for $355. How did he convice you to let him bid on the card with no feedback history? >>
actually would have sold for $335.....
that is only if no one else bids. what some of you fail to see is that some people may have been turned off by the fact that a 0 feedback bidderr that registered 3 days ago was bidding like a mad man.
to say it would have sold for x is just not correct.
yes, if the last one sold for 462 and this one sold for 510 then yes it sold for more.
also a previoius customer bid 500.00 for it but was outbid by this newbie.
Steve
I could have cancelled his bid and then blocked him but his money is as good as anyone else's. The problem is like you say he has no history of paying. Would have been nice had he won some commons. Not the best card I had up.
No biggie, if he reneges I'll simply relist it and get 335.00 <eyeroll> for it
Steve
these zero feedback bidders give the appearance that the auction is being shilled
which turns off potential bidders IMO. When I see this on something I am bidding on, I usually remove my snipe.
EBAY needs to allow more options for enabling sellers to block bidders with low fb. Right now you can only block low fb ebayers who have a negative fb rating, not a low fb rating. Also, it would be nice if you could require any buyer with a fb rating of less than "x" to pay immediately with paypal. Make them earn their reputation by being stellar payers.

I will keep the board informed as to the outcome.
crave topps has a great idea. feedback below 10? you must pay within 48 hrs. let them build up credibility.
Steve
A) Communicated well and paid fast.
C) Were just unfamiliar with the whole eBay process and needed some guidance.
Only time will tell which one you got.
Hope it works out.
Look at the bright side Steve- he could've stopped the bidding at $425, still scared off other bidders, and your card goes for way less. At least the guy bid it up higher than the last one. And if he renegs, maybe the 2nd bidder will take a second chance offer (although he'll probably suspect something might be up with the high bidder). You're right, it was a no win situation, but I wouldn't be too worried. It's not like no one will want the high grade Mantle card.

Once a bid reaches $200, no one can not see who is the high bidder except the seller. At that point, the only way to tell feedback and bidding history on the highest bidder is to click on the bid history.
you can see the high bidder on any auction. You can't see the bidder id but you can see their feedback rating range. And you definitely see the dreaded new member icon.

If the zero feedback bidder stiffs you I'll buy it for 425.00
Is it the zero feedback guy trying to get a lower price?
I did not reply to the person.
Like mentioned, I still have the card.
If the person had some feedback this wouldn't be an issue.

That would seem quite an elaborate effort to get the card for a lower price. More likely it's someone who didn't want to get into a bidding war with a new ebayer. If the new guy doesn't pay, you can file the NPB, get your FVF back and sell it to the other guy off ebay if you don't want to relist it again.

The 0 fedback guy has completed checkout and says he will be sending me a check/money order.
at least he communicated.
Steve
Guy has paid with a money order!
I'll be mailing his card out on Monday.

yes, but for some reason it still seems like 90% of 0 feedback bidders are mildly mentally incapacitated....

p.s-glad it worked out for em and you didnt get the shaft on it steve, nice card!
Not sure if I was ever worried.
I was simply concerned that a 0 feedback buyer won my auction and did not know his/her intent.
0 feedback buyers have no history thus we can't judge them.
