stop taping sleeves together!

i have to vent,

why do people send cards in sleeves and tape the sleeves together? wouldn't a thin or thick strip of bubble wrap suffice?

I hate it too, not only can it damage the card if it were to slide to the top of the sleeve, but it ruins the sleeve.

or worse, is when they put industrial stength tape on the top of a top loader. half the time i think i will ruin the card just to release from its holder.

or this one. industrial tape to cardboard in a envelope.

Just more garbage to get rid of
Since most of us are anal retentive with top loads, you have to discard the one the card comes in (since it is taped on the top), then unwind the 3 yards of packaging tape that goes around the extra two to protect the one holding the card....

One time I got a toploader with 2 '71s in sleeves jammed inside. It was a bear to carefully carve apart the TLer without touching the cards inside - but I finally did it!

Putting tape where a card could possibly touch it in transit is just stupid. I've returned many cards exactly the way I received them - one end slightly out of the top loader and stuck to the tape. I actually had one "cat", I won't mention his name (although I did have a dog named "Toby" when I was a kid), rudely tell me to never bid on his auctions again because I had the audacity to return a card that was stuck to his tape and had already been partially skinned.

And what's with taping the package to the INSIDE of the envelope?

I generally don't mind tape if it's properly applied. One doofus who I once sent a free coin to had the gall to complain that I made the package "too hard to open" (ever hear of slicing the tape where I clearly wrote for you to, friend?) - but generally I've gotten raves about my packing so he was a fluke.

But anyway - I have to agree - keep gummy tape AWAY from openings in holders! A simple piece of paper folded over an open end, then taped down, is fine. Or perhaps a team bag sealed around the holder. It really takes just a second and makes all the difference -

but I think I'm preaching to the choir.
