You can probably ebay the card for $600 and I guess he will sign while you are there. I would do it if I had $1,000.

I wouldn't pay $1,000 to meet anyone. It's really sad that it's come to this.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I agree with Allen, eBay the card and then go Kobayashi on the hors d’oeuvres.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I only paid $350 to meet and hang with William Shatner for two days, and $250 of that went directly to one of his charities, with the other $100 going towards meals and transportation.

oops sorry about that one. I agree $1000 to meet a guy who hasnt played one day in the NBA is crazy. I will be attending the national and will think the $119 VIP isnt all its all cracked up to be with the exception that if you go all 5 days at general admission would cost $75. Also viewing the rates at which some players sign an autograph is crazy. Barry Sanders is off the charts, for a photo opp its around $150. What happed to the days when you could get a picture with an athlete for free!. I love the National and all it represents (Celebration of collecting and what not) but how can people afford to pay for the autographs. Are people flipping these and selling them?

Auto prices are out of this world. Brady Quinn is taking a beating around here for signing autographs at a business opening, I heard at $75 to start (for a flat), and up from there. I can see if someone is coming in with 10 items and they want autos. Obviously they are selling them and making a profit on your sig. But $75 for an unsigned football player who has not thrown a pass in the NFL.....how about the first auto for free and a fee for any additional autos? John

Also, I agree about the VIP package fee. The food at the wednesday meet and great better be fantastic!! Getting the free cards helps a little, but the package does not even include free parking! I am going two or three of the days, I will give the pass to my mom to go one day at least....it will be used every day at that cost.
  • Do not know what the food will be @ the National VIP party this year, but last year (when the pkg was $20 or so less), it was pretty much coke and pizza. Was not that impressed, but the freebies more than paid for the cost of the VIP pass- at least last year.

This is strange, some prices have dropped. I know this because I planned my spending budget. I know Paul Kraus was $29 and not $20 and Bob Turley too. Whats up with that?

I think the VIp packages are pretty nice. If you are not happy with the cards you are given, i will gladly take them all for $40. That leaves you with admission as well as the free autographs each day.
