Is it possible to...

combine the SMR with the population report? For example:

Card # Player #PSA7 #PSA 8 #PSA 9 /// $PSA7 $PSA8 $PSA9

There's certainly enough room on the PSA spreadsheets. It would be nice to print and take to shows when you're building sets. Actually, I'd be happy with just the 8s and 9s, so that gives even more room.

I'm hoping some of you computer wizards have done it.

that idea makes too much sense for it to actually happen...
  • If they combined them, they wouldn't be able to list them individually as a reason to join PSA.
  • Sure they could. They could still even keep them seperate. But they could allow members to fill in one, maybe with drawdown menus, and print them. That would be something else they could tout. Since they are always changing, people would want access to that.

I think it's a good idea, and I should get 1000 free vouchers for it.image

    hmmm

I may see if I can pull that off. Do you have a particular year(s) you'd want to see?
  • Envoy,

The only one I'd want is 1968 Topps Baseball with 8s and 9s would be great. I don't even need the 7s really, but they would be nice to have.

PSA can do this, but here's the thing- They update the population report almost daily, while they update SMR once every 19th blue lunar eclipse of Jupiter. I'd rather have them keep the accurate (or fairly accurate) information source separate from the one that was last updated in 1994. What they should really do is hire a data processing company to keep up with the realized prices and send a monthly report to PSA, so all PSA has to do is factor in the new prices of the sold cards.

The problem is that the SMR is not a huge money-maker for PSA so there's no motivation to spend money to keep it up to date. The population report, however, creates an artificial demand for low pop cards and is the reason low pop 1978 PSA 9 commons bring $150 and the reason many people (myself included) submit stuff that would be otherwise considered crap.
