Cards that never were........

I ran across this on the web & thought it was a pretty cool mock-up. It got me thinking that it would be great to have a RC of the infamous 'Mad Bomber." What player out there strikes your fancy but doesn't have a card?

    Keith Conforti (Con40) did a whole bunch of these that were incredible- a Cracker Jack Ruth, '57 Topps Musial, '63 Fleer Mantle, etc. I know he lurks here still, maybe he could post a few.

    I was excited over the potential Clearence Valentine had. He was a little known rb for the Dallas Cowboys in the early 80's.

    Unfortunately his rc card was never made and he was booted out of the nfl when they found a family of migrant farm workers living in his afro.

    His gold shoes didnt help the matter either

    The '80 Munson is definitely my favorite.

    I guess by 1966, when he looked 110, he could turn the light off and barely get in bed before it got dark.

    I've been working up cards for several years, here's one of the most recent from my 100+ 1955 Toops-style "Update" series.

    If Topps actually had the good sense to make a product like this, I might actually buy it. Imagine how many vintage guys they could get interested if they produced cards featuring cards that never were including cards that should have been made following a player's last season (for example, a '67 Sandy Koufax). They could do this not only with stars, but also average players who had long careers (think '77 Vada Pinson), then short print some of the stars.

    I would buy that product, provided that the card look was exactly the same as the original issue (i.e. no stupid looking Heritage like logo on it).

    These mock-ups are incredible...I only wish I was smart enough to figure out how to do it myself! Great stuff AUPT & CON40. Thanks for sharing.

    It's a 1974 Topps Roberto Clemente from an "alternate reality," where Clemente crash landed at a small airstrip outside the small mining town of Siuna. Although seriously injured, he was airlifted to Managua where he was personally visited by Nicaraguan president Anastazio Somoza and received Nicaragua's highest honor, The Order of Bolivar.
