What about pitchers on the juice?

With all the talk about Bonds et all using steroids, hgh, ect. What about the pitchers who possibly used during the last few years? Maybe their heads didn't grow like Barry's did- but steroids would help an older player heal faster. Let's see retire, hit the juice, stop, unretire repeat. Bottom line if for a minute I thought Bonds, Mac, Raffy ect were the only ones juicing then I would say Keep them out of the hall. Each generation has it's demons. 1970's and 1980's was cocaine The 50's and 60's was booze and greenies. I blame Bud Selig for this whole mess.

From my experience, pitchers are constantly working on stretching and strengthening ligaments and tendons, not large muscle groups.
Steve Carlton used a big bucket of rice to strengthen his arm. A lot of light resistance training with therabands.
Remember Sid Finch?

It's all about recovery time. Small doses of the juice can allow for faster recovery and a little more stamina.
For a starting pitcher, it keeps him from getting as tired late in the game and loosing velocity.
For a reliever, it keeps him fresh and ready in the bullpen.
There have been a good number of pitchers who've been busted since they started testing. However, only low-end scrub pitchers have been busted.... so far.

<< <i>What about Nolan Ryan, he played forever. I love Nolan and I do not think he juiced.....he simply found the fountain of youth. >>
But Nolan Ryan never looked like the hulk.
I don't think it is psychologically advantageous for all the fans in baseball to take all their rage out on all the players who are in all probability using (or have used). So...in an effort to remain fans of baseball, they displace a tremendous amount of hatred on one person.
Personally, I don't like Barry, but I don't hate him like many fans do. I do think he used steroids, but I think that many, many, many players get a relative free pass (even Giambi) even though there probably should not.

Steroid use doesn't necessarly lead to hulking out, unless the juicer wanted to. Proper training and such could keep bulk down to a minimum and maximize recovery time and stamana.

Former pitcher Tom House, who started out in the majors in 1971, talked about how steroids were avaliable back then (and he used them).
The stuff has been around for a long time.
The late Lyle Alzado admitted: "I started taking anabolic steroids in 1969 and never stopped." Yeah, he's football, but it just means that steroids were avaliable to professional (and college) athletes way back then.

roger maris hit 61 homers one year. other then that 39 and 33. never over 30 again. now im not saying he took roids but that sure looks like a weird stat to me.
brady anderson 50 in 1996. other then that in 15 seasons 24 was his next high.
luis gonzalez 57 in 2001. other then that in 18 seasons he hit over 30 1 time 31 total.
if bonds goes down then id say 80% of baseball should go down with him.
i no back in the 50-70's not many players took them but people are blind to think no one did. as far as the 90's era its up there in the 80% or more.
Just another factor to add into the equation....
