Box counts on 70's & 80's unopened material?

Was wondering if anyone knew of a resource/website where you can look up box/case counts of unopened sports cards from the 70's and 80's? I know, for instance, that for most of the 80's, there were 540 cards in a Topps wax box, but I'd like to see a listing for other years, brands, and types... such as RakPaks, Cellos, etc. I'm starting to purchase some older unopened material and want a resource to help me figure out cost-per-card.

    For 70s unopened packs, especially, the count varies year to year for wax, rack and cello packs. Not sure if there's a source of reference on line for that. What years are you wondering about?


    Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

    Not to mention a forbidden word, but Beckett's online price guide has information of how cards were distributed. They will let you know if an issue came out as cello, rack, wax, and/or vending and how many cards were in each. They also do obscure issues.
    I know I have used it for many issues. Bad part though, it costs $5/month.

    I would contact Gary as he is the self proclaimed experts on 80's material, even though his handle really does discribe his Ebay auctions. I've heard his " un-opened " material varies greatly in their count , depending on how much time he has to search through it.

    Buy Mark Murphy's book for $8. It will pay for itself.

    I second Murphy's book. It is a wonderful guide with awesome pictures.

    I bought several '75 wax packs last year from Murphy that yielded some terrific cards.

    Fairly steep in price, but well worth it.

    Good communication. Seemed like a good guy.

    I subscribed to the Baseball OPG but cannot find this information. Can anyone help?

    Murphy's role with GAI as authenticator and seller of the same packs he was authenticating damaged his credibility in many unopened collectors' eyes.
